When I co-founded The Social Engineering Project (TSEP), I aimed to address the ongoing lack of diversity in the STEM fields. I’m thrilled with our successes thus far and aware of the challenges we still face sustaining and growing our programs.
As we prepare for the new year, please make a charitable donation to support The Social Engineering Project.
Our week-long summer camp for middle school-age youth, Science in the City, is held at Stanford University and is designed to address this inequity. Science in the City introduces 50 students to careers in the STEM fields through hands-on learning with educators and professionals.

Mia, one of our many exemplary middle school students, during a virtual Science in the City session. Mia explains her model of how the lungs work and how COVID-19 affects them.
The Social Engineering Project programs are socially and culturally relevant to kids like Mia, encouraging them to see themselves becoming chemists, engineers, mathematicians, and physicists.
Our curriculum not only teaches STEM but also empowers kids to take action on real-life problems in their communities, such as lead contamination in water.
We need your help funding Science in the City so we can serve more kids and make sure the next generation of scientists includes young people of color.
