BIKI BLAST: DECEMBER 2021

It's that time of year again! Here are 5 reasons why a Biki e-gift certificate is the perfect present for your favorite commuter, student, adventure seeker, and anything in between:
1. It improves health & happiness. 49% of members report exercising more since joining Biki, and 30% have lost weight! The fresh air and sunlight are great for mental health, too.

2. It's fun and convenient. With over 130 Biki Stops, it's easy to find one near Honolulu's top destinations. Bikes are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

3. It reduces transportation costs. Help your loved ones avoid rising gas prices, expensive paid parking, and rideshare surcharges. 63% of members report saving money since joining Biki.
4. It's eco-friendly! The majority of Oahu's greenhouse gas emissions come from transportation. 49% of members report driving less often since signing up for Biki, and 11% have reduced the number of cars in their households.

5. It's a high value gift at a low price point. $15 will provide a full month's worth of unlimited rides, and $25 will get them a bank of 300 minutes that can be used whenever and however. Plus, by purchasing an e-certificate you'll be able to avoid the crowded shopping malls and potential shipping delays!

KING STREET BIKE LANE TURNS 7!
In December 2014, the city's first protected bike lane was installed on King Street. It's used daily by Biki riders and cyclists, and gives residents more options to travel safely while avoiding parking or traffic congestion. Officials say the project has resulted in a 50% reduction in pedestrian-vehicle collisions, and a 65% decrease in the number of bikes on the sidewalk. The success of the King Street Protected Bike Lane over the last 7 years has led to an increase in the number of people who are willing and able to bike, and has resulted in the installation of several more bike lanes throughout the city.

WORDS FROM A BIKI AMBASSADOR
"I don’t know how to drive. I do not even know which pedal is the gas and which pedal is the brake. Thanks to Biki in Honolulu, there is no need for me to learn. I am rarely more than a three-minute walk away from a Biki station and I can usually find one near every major destination. I don't worry about the rising price of gasoline, nor the high cost and availability of parking. I urge you to try making Biki your primary form of transportation for even just a week. You won't regret it."
