Happy Holidays from Children First Canada!
Thank you for joining our efforts to put children first this past year. Our work would not be possible without caring partners, donors and supporters – just like you. Whether you spread the word on social media about the crisis facing kids or gave generously to our research efforts, your contributions made a lasting difference. Together, we amplified the voices of children and youth and made history.
Here are some highlights from 2021:
- We declared #codePINK – a term used for pediatric emergencies – calling on government leaders to take immediate action to address the crisis facing kids during the pandemic.
- The Raising Canada 2021 report shed light on how COVID-19 has exacerbated the top 10 threats to childhood.
- We hosted the largest National Child Day event in history, with more than 8,000 people registered.
- With the support of CFC and other organizations, a group of Canadian children and youth filed a court challenge to lower the federal voting age. This opens the possibility that youth could cast a ballot in the next federal election.
- The federal government announced major commitments to kids in Canada through the new mandate letters for cabinet ministers. Many of the commitments respond directly to the concerns raised in our recent Raising Canada report and the Children's Platform in our #VoteForOurFuture campaign.
As we look ahead to 2022, let’s continue to dream big for all 8 million kids in Canada!
