Camden School Climate Charter

The School Climate Charter was launched at a successful event on 03 November. Over 90 participants including headteachers and other members of SLTs, governors and teachers attended the event. They provided valuable insight around ideas as well as barriers to further climate action in schools.  See the recording of the event below.

There is plenty of support available for schools signing the charter, including a Think&Do Camden free barrier buster workshop, a charter toolkit with facts, ideas and resources, free Camden Forest fruit trees to start you off re-wilding your school grounds, as well as an online peer support group to share ideas and bust barriers to action.

Charter toolkit

Check out the charter toolkit, which is packed with facts, ideas and resources for each of the 10 charter commitments.

The commitments cover a wide range of sustainability topics, from embedding sustainability across the curriculum to tackling single-use plastics, from reducing waste to introducing plant-based menus in the school canteen, from procurement and circular economy to re-wilding the school grounds and climate justice.

Camden Beeline

The Camden Beeline is a community project that aims to increase green space and biodiversity across the Borough of Camden by creating a connected pollinator pathway of trees, plants and rewilded space.

Initially, their focus is on creating Beelines within and between Camden schools, by encouraging and supporting pollinator-friendly wild gardening on their grounds. A live map will show how participating schools connect via wildlife corridors. More schools, more connections, more and happier bees.

Visit the beeline website to find out what you can do to encourage bees in your schools, even when outdoor space is limited: www.camdenbeeline.org.uk or contact camdenbeeline@gmail.com
if you are interested in getting involved.
