Encouragement. Today.

Good morning!

This Friday-before-Christmas always feels like a holiday itself. The last day of school, the frenetic energy of anticipation, and the mild panic of too-much-to-do-too-little-time.

Most humans love the holiday breakaway from the routine and mundane. It's what gives the world its sparkle.

But, we don't have to get caught up in it. And, our ability to do all the things (or not) is not a marker of our worth.

Remember that time affluence and being present are some of the best gifts of all. It's no coincidence that "present" means gift and "present" also means being in the moment. It is a gift to be in the here-and-now.

This year, my family and I are using our own homes as the store in which we will be finding gifts. We're wrapping things up for each other that we already have. I've found Christmas presents I never gave in years past and hid too well. I'll be considering which earrings from my jewelry box will look great on my mom, and crafting coupons for time-together activities for my son.

The gift of Christmas this year is an "allowing" - allowing what we have to be absolutely enough. And, my heart has never been so happy.

Have a great day, light spreaders.

Standing at the Edge of the Unknown

I'm on the down-drop of a roller coaster.

Vacuum space in my gut, then my heart.

Is it fear?

No, I think it's space.

Expansive, wide-open.

Possibility panoramas.

My heart, then my throat.

A scream held? A sob caught? A laugh ready?

The edge of the unknown is all the things.

All at once.

A place where grief and hope and fear and freedom mix in the wind and unite in the air.

It's so rare and feels so electric, I usually run to find shelter of the sure.

But that's just a mixed-up masquerade.

I'm ready to trade the masquerade for the magic.

To absorb the alchemy of standing still in the threshold.

To find peace in the liminal.

To explore the deciding before making decisions.

Easy Dinner Recipe...

The dreaded "what's for dinner" question haunts me. This week, this recipe saved me. I added some lightly steamed broccoli and red pepper and mixed with the chicken and sauce. Enjoy!
