Welcome to the Lowfield Timber Frames newsletter, bringing you the latest news, projects and events.
As we are approaching the end of 2021 we look back on the year and reflect on all the projects we have completed, the challenges we have overcome, the continued relationships with our clients and the new projects to look forward to next year. It has been a difficult year for many companies with the pandemic affecting so many industries and the timber industry especially. However, we stay optimistic for 2022 and have some very exciting projects in the pipeline, so watch this space!
A low energy future
Lowfield Timber Frames have completed several Passive House contracts including one-off dwellings, Housing developments and schools. We have noticed an increase in the desire for Passive House standards as the focus on sustainability and low energy is a hot topic following COP26.
Lowfields factory tour
Thankfully with the pandemic lockdown lifting at the beginning of the year we were able to open our doors to customers and welcome a factory tour. ‘A group of Welsh architects, all members of Woodknowledge Wales were thrilled to tour Lowfield Timber Frame Ltd in October to see at first-hand precision-engineered timber frame homes being built’.
“It was an excellent educational opportunity for us all which resulted in plenty of questions being asked focusing on how we can work together to develop low-carbon timber homes for the future. Thanks to Darren Jarman and his colleagues for giving us the time to learn and collaborate” James Moxey, WKW.
Team Lowfield is expanding
As we enter into 2022 we are pleased to announce our team will be expanding with three new additions to the team. All come with a wealth of knowledge and an understanding of the business and they will all have a positive, immediate impact. We look forward to introducing them so keep an eye out on our next newsletter and social media.

Lowfield complete 12 Passive Houses
Lowfield Timber Frames was pleased to supply the timber frame structures to Wates Group for a development in Cardiff. The above images detail how the Passive House design works. The internal images show the airtightness layer of Smartply Propassiv board with all joints taped. The average air test result for these 12 dwellings came in at below 0.5 ACH. The Larsen truss panel utilised in this project was 330mm deep with the finished wall make-up being closer to 500mm.
The major benefit of a passive house build is the reduced energy consumption during the operating life of the structure, leading to reduced energy costs and heating bills and lower CO2 for the planet. Read more on 'Passive House'

Phase three commences in Kerry Powys
Above is a selection of images from a site where we supplied the timber frames to this new housing development locally in Kerry, Powys. Phase three of the development has began and this last phase will be net carbon zero. Business Development Manager at Wyro Green Homes gave us this statement
“ Lowfield Timber Frames have been the sole suppliers of the timber frames for our 62 House Development at Kerry in Mid-Wales.
The site has been split into 3 Phases, progressively transitioning from ‘B’ EPC rated to ‘A’ EPC rated with solar and iBoost through to Net Carbon Zero emission homes for Phase 3 of the development which did commence in November 2021. All of our Phase 3 Timber frame homes supplied by LTF will have the following features as standard: Solar PV’s, iBoost systems, 500mm loft insulation, triple glazing with Passiv Haus casements, market leading hot water storage cylinders, air source heat pumps and smart electric vehicle chargers that work in conjunction with the solar panels.
Lowfield Timber Frame have played an integral part in helping us achieve our path to Net Zero Carbon emissions, with nearly all of our Phase 2 ‘A’ EPC Energy Efficiency rated homes at Kerry already sold. Our first Net Zero Carbon emission homes will be available late Spring 2022”
