It's officially winter recess for me! I have completed three-out-of-five semesters of what some (few) (none) have called the "best years of their life" - grad school! I taught three courses this semester (ballet! jazz! more jazz!), and I've been working on a few projects and even performing... once? The pandemic still looms large over live shows, and as it turns out, those are still my main/only interest in the dance sphere (aside from J/K-Pop MVs lolololol)
Above you can catch a glimpse of me on stage dancing like I always do in a sequel to the summer's Yet Another Nostalgic Revival - my other unmasked live performance of the year! Untitled Renaissance was performed at The Mirage for World AIDS Day at the start of the month. I ended up placing third in the amateur drag contest that I didn't know I was competing in!
Below you'll find some more fun dealy-bops I've been up to. As always, check out my catalog of back issues if you're bored!
stb x at is premiering our annual shindig... TODAY! Audio-Video is OUT NOW on stbxat.com. This year, we're releasing a new work, in moderation ii, alongside some other solo and duo works created (somewhat) recently as a sort of... archival album. Be sure to check it out! Featured:
Hand at the Museum - made for a performance at The Barnes Foundation
Keeping on
Seafarer - performed at Dr. Andy's Faculty Recital
I AM DAVID BECKHAM
(an improvisation) - livestreamed at the Dissolving Doors Festival
Sean Lake
3x1
in moderation ii - a new work partially funded by a grant through the University of Iowa
Maybe we'll do a live performance next year?
I've also made several very short video dances in the past few months...
SHELF WARS- some skincare products compete for superiority!
カラフル 2 - I dance. The light bounces. I keep going.
Skin Study XYZ - It's me and my third nipple - what more do you want?
Naturally, I've undertaken yet another attempt to create a pop group. This time with stop motion! 18mgmt. released their first trailer and music video earlier this month... Follow their trials and tribulations on Instagram! (or don't?)
One last thing! This fall, I started work on my upcoming thesis. This crew of dancers had to deal with me in rehearsals every Wednesday night after my long days of teaching - We'll see what we create this spring! More information about the performance coming soon... April 13-15, 2022! Until then: you can gaze at me and my doings on my constantly-updated website.
