Dear HAH Members,
As we enter the last weeks of 2021, I want to thank each of you for the lives you saved, the diseases you prevented, the love and compassion you have shown, your resilience, and the incredible hard work you have invested and continue to invest, in making Hawaii a healthier and safer place. You each have contributed to Hawaii having had the lowest infection rate in the nation during the entire pandemic to date, and the second lowest death rate. That is something to be very proud of.
You impress and inspire me every day, and it is a privilege and honor for my team and me to work alongside you.
I know that providing high quality healthcare in 2021 was even more challenging than in 2020 as the pandemic dragged on and as Hawaii experienced its worse surge of the pandemic during August and September of this year.
Together, we stayed current on changing rules and regulations at a federal, state and county level. We kept patients and residents safe amidst surges of the coronavirus by vaccinating the public and our healthcare staff. We kept tabs on the vaccine supply and eligibility, and collaborated on the distribution of monoclonal antibody therapy. We brought in more healthcare staffing, and we worked with state and federal partners and public and private organizations, to solve the imminent liquified-oxygen supply shortage.
I look back at 2021 and remain humbled by your dedication. It motivates us here at HAH, HHEM, and Laulima Data Alliance to do all we can to serve you, our members, and to enable you to deliver the best care to the people of Hawaii.
Hawaii is a better place because of you.
Thank you,
Hilton R. Raethel
