The first-ever drive-thru Christmas Light Show in Haywood County opens at the Smoky Mountain Event Center, formerly Haywood County Fairgrounds, on Wednesday, Dec. 1, and runs through the holidays.  Tickets for the nightly show are available online-only at 38main.com with only 100 cars per one-hour time slot. 



Come on out and get some last-minute Christmas shopping done at our Winter Wonderland Market. Nothing says I love you like a present purchased from a small business. Don't shop big brand name stores this year when our small business owners have every unique gift there is and could really use the support. Something for everyone here. Christmas Wonderland Hayride & Farm Festivities-Christmas is amazing at Darnell Farms!

Come join us for an outdoor hayride through a majestic Christmas light forest, the lit reindeer barn, amazing Christmas photo ops, farm playground, as well as our fruit stand full of amazing Christmas gifts to bring back the taste of the mountain.
Hayrides through the lights (approx 20min) is $12 per person and includes your choice* of hot coffee, hot cocoa, hot apple cider, or bottled water.  Innovation Station (Dillsboro) - The first two weekends of December the town of Dillsboro will be hosting the Lights & Luminaries celebration. In addition to the more than 2,500 candles in white bags lining the streets, Innovation Station will be hosting some holiday events. Join us on the first two Fridays for an indoor holiday market featuring local vendors. The first two Saturdays will feature The Loopy Gnome Succulent vendor along with festive live music.

Hiking:

Friends of Panthertown is hosting a series of trail workdays this fall, and all are invited to come pitch in. Scheduled workdays are Saturday, Dec. 18. No previous trail work experience is necessary. Workdays typically run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with about 5 miles of hiking on moderate trails while doing trail corridor clearing, pruning, and some tread and drain work. Alzheimer’s Association Western Carolina Chapter Telephone Support Group for Caregivers of Persons with Alzheimer’s Disease or dementia is designed to provide caregivers opportunities for sharing, education, and support through a telephone conference. Friends of the Greenway  FROG Quarters is now open Wednesday to Saturday, 9 a.m. to  2 p.m.,  at 573 E. Main in Franklin. Stop by for coffee or a soft drink and a snack, use our free internet.  You can also reserve the shelters for your events there.

Smoky Mountain Pregnancy Care Centers in Cullowhee and Franklin have an educational parenting program to earn “points” to use to obtain free items for your family. The centers carry formula, diapers, wipes, baby items and clothing up to size 6, as well as strollers, car seats, high chairs, pack n’ plays, etc. Donations are always welcome. Five Fire Departments in Macon County – Nantahala, Cullasaja, Sky Valley, Clarks Chapel, and Burningtown – are open Monday thru Friday for drive-up food deliveries from 1 to 4 p.m. for anyone who needs food.

All Saints Episcopal Church, Franklin  Services are held Rite I, 8 a.m. without music and Rite II,  10:15 a.m. with music, every Sunday. Is recruiting for a Seasonal Park Worker (weekends) to clean and perform daily trash pick-up of the parks and restrooms. This employee will also perform general duties such as basic plumbing, general repair, painting, landscaping, mowing, and other duties as needed. Work Period is March - October.
