TechTello | Brain Tickle

Hello,

Here is your weekly Brain Tickle Newsletter from TechTello - Learn and be better everyday.

ARTICLE OF THE WEEK

"Authentic leadership goes wrong when leaders try to match their behaviors and actions to an idealized version of an authentic leader and feel exhausted and defeated when they fail to inspire the necessary changes in their teams and their organizations. By getting hung up on becoming their best versions, they fail to show up their authentic versions."

Being on the Wrong Side of Authentic Leadership

EXPLORE

"Mental health has become its own pandemic during the pandemic, with soaring rates of anxiety, depression and burnout. But some studies show that a substantial portion of adults have found ways to function and even thrive, in spite of dealing with the global health crisis and societal upheaval. They have even become stronger than they were before the pandemic — with positive changes in how they view themselves, their feelings about life or their relationships. This trend illustrates the human potential for what psychologists call resilience, the ability to bounce back from negative experiences and endure adversity."

THINK
"Almost every professional would agree that strategic thinking – the ability to plan for the long term – is important. And yet far too few of us actually carve out the space to engage in it. We want to be big-picture thinkers, not simply trapped in the hamster wheel of execution. Yet it’s so hard to make it happen – to resist the siren song of the urgent and turn toward the important. But, for the sake of our companies, and our own careers and lives, we must. Strategy can’t remain siloed as an annual activity, or the purview of a few select executives. We have to embed strategic thinking throughout our organizations because the cost of not asking the right questions – and instead continuing to implement old solutions to old problems – is just too high."

The long game

QUOTE TO REMEMBER

When you believe something is impossible, your mind goes to work for you to prove why. But when you believe, really believe, something can be done, your mind goes to work for you and helps you find the ways to do it. Believing something can be done paves the way for creative solutions. Believing something can’t be done is destructive thinking. This point applies to all situations, little and big.

Belief releases creative powers. Disbelief puts the brakes on. Believe, and you’ll start thinking—constructively. Your mind will create a way if you let it.
