Vaccination Card Collection

As we continue to navigate another unique year due to the COVID-19 health and safety guidelines, we are focused on two primary goals:

  • To ensure safe in-person learning

  • To reduce the number of quarantined students whenever possible

Per the health guidance, when an asymptomatic, vaccinated student is identified as a close contact, there is no need for them to quarantine. Therefore, one of the ways we can further our goals is by offering families the opportunity to upload a student’s vaccination card to Skyward.

Key Points

  • Students ages 5 and up are eligible for the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine

  • Uploading the vaccination card is optional

  • Individual student vaccination information will remain confidential

  • Vaccine cards should only be shared via Skyward

  • The purpose of the upload is to reduce quarantines and keep students in school

To Upload Your Card

  • Login to Skyward

  • Click the "Online Forms" button

  • Find the "Covid 19 Vaccincation Card" form and click "Fill out form"

  • Click "Choose File" to upload your vaccincation card

  • Upload your card

  • Click "Complete Step 1 and Move to Step 2"

  • Enter the information into the fields

  • Click "Complete Step 2 and Move to Step 3"

  • Click "Submit COVID-19 Vaccination Card"

NWEA Schedule (Winter Administration)

Upon return from the Winter Break, the NWEA MAP Window will begin. Our District uses the data from this assessment in a variety of ways. In the classroom, it provides teachers with a means for monitoring student growth in reading and mathematics over time.  At the District and building levels, MAP data help us set goals and evaluate initiatives.

  Preparing for MAP:

A student who is well-rested, well-fed, and has a positive attitude about assessment is best prepared for testing. You can help your child do his or her best by considering these tips:

  • Make sure that your child is in school and on time on test days.

  • Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep and eats a healthy breakfast before each day of testing.

  • Remind your child that this assessment is only one measure. Emphasize that you have confidence in his or her ability to do the best job possible.

  • Remind your child to listen to the directions and read each question carefully during testing.

The Elm School NWEA Winter MAP Schedule is as follows:

January 6, 2022: 3rd Grade Math

January 10, 2022: 5th Grade Math

January 11, 2022: 4th Grade Math, 1st Grade Math

Tech Ambassadors

The Department of Learning is excited to announce a new tech leadership program available to students in D181. Student Tech Ambassadors will be key members of our D181 Tech Connect Team. They will help inform our direction, represent young people in our vision of technology integration, and will passionately advocate for technology application.

The Student Tech Ambassador Leadership Program is a technology-based group of students from each of our nine schools that will be selected through a formal application process. We are asking students to submit a sample of their technology skills and application using a project that they have completed at home or at school.

Students and staff will meet one to two times a month throughout the year, with a focus on building student agency in technology and developing how technology is integrated into our D181 classrooms. The program also provides students with the opportunity to engage with STEAM in a practical context and develop transferable skills such as leadership, teamwork, and communication.

Applications will be shared out via email for 3rd-5th graders on December 15th and due back January 7th.The application for K-2 is a Seesaw activity that will be shared out January 10th and due back January 24th.

Meeting times will be one to two times a month on Thursdays at lunch or after school based on grade levels. You may reach out to Susan Petersen (spetersen@d181.org) or Barbara Folan (bfolan@d181.org) if you have any questions.
