Happy Holidays familia. Here is an early Christmas present, after nearly 2 years, the Movies at the United Palace film series is finally back. Starting in January 2022 a different film will be shown every month until June. Movies at the United Palace is not just a film screening but a film experience that includes a pre-film extravaganza that will be chock full of surprises. Check this out, Uptown superhero, Lin-Manuel Miranda will be tapping into his vast network of friends to make this film series one for the record books. It gets better people; you can help determine what movies will be featured by voting for your favorites from a list of really awesome films. My picks are Black Panther, Do The Right Thing, Hero, In the Times of the Butterflies and Selena but click below and have your say.

The Harlem Night Market
returns to the historic La Marqueta this weekend. Come out the last weekend before Christmas to celebrate the best food, makers and music from across East and West Harlem. Not to mention, that DJ’s Ted Smooth and Stormin' Norman will be doing their thing on the wheels of steel. See you there.

Gregg McQueen of the Bronx Free Press gave us the history making news that the first Black woman has been selected as NYC’s next Police Commissioner. Keechant Sewell “will become the first woman Commissioner in the 176-year history of the NYPD, and the third Black person to hold the post.”

In New York City, children enter kindergarten in the fall of the calendar year they turn five, and are guaranteed a kindergarten seat at a public school. Once your child starts kindergarten, they can remain at the same school until its final elementary grade. With that said, the kindergarten application is open!
