On Sunday 26 December, we start a new theme:  Was he what we expected?  Maureen Studholme gives the talk, "the first of many sons of God.'  The reading is John Chapter 1. 10 - 13.

On Sunday 2 January, Rev Brian Greenfield gives the talk: "the boy in the temple" The reading is Luke 2 41 - 52.

Please pray for both of our speakers over the festive period.

Thank-yous
Thank you to everyone who helped in whatever capacity during an extremely busy Christmas time at Church.  What you see when an event happens is the tip of the iceberg! We are very grateful to everyone who worked so hard beforehand, behind the scenes and on the day(s),  to ensure everything went ahead safely and successfully.
Wanted: Homes for spare Christmas Trees!
Do you have spare space to store a few Church Christmas trees?  We would like to 'bank' some for future use.
We will have a considerable number left over after we clear Light Up Nativity and there is no suitable storage space in our buildings.   Even if you have space just for one or two, that would be a help.  Please contact Julie Smith or Sue Huntington.  Thanks.
Mission Giving Updates:
The Mission Giving Committee met on 10 December and agreed the following donations:
  • £150 to The Bradford Soup Run, which helps to feed the homeless in Bradford
  • £150 to the Bradford Metropolitan Foodbank
  • £300 to The Cellar Trust, a charity which supports those with mental health needs and is based in Shipley
  • £300 to Abigail Housing which works with refugees and asylum seekers from all across the world and which is also based in Bradford
  • £300 to Christian Aid for their Christmas Appeal which is to support families in South Sudan
  • There is a small balance left over which we will use to top up donations for The Children’s Society after Messy Christingle
We have received a Christmas card from The Bradford Soup Run as we have helped them in previous years.

We have received a Christmas update letter from Kathryn Mercy Homes, who we support through our Mission giving.  The newsletter can be viewed HERE.
News from the Airedale Circuit:
Boxing Day
As the majority of the chapels will not be meeting for worship on Sunday 26th December, members will be able to watch a pre-recorded service prepared by the staff team.   We are hoping to stream the video live via the circuit’s Facebook page (Airedale Methodist Circuit) on the 26th December at 11am (subject to technology working!!) and it will be also be available to watch via the circuit’s YouTube channel (Airedale Methodist Circuit) as well.

A message from the Superintendent of the Circuit, Rev Clare Stainsby
" It is good that this Advent and Christmas season we are able to worship in our churches and meet together.  However we do still need to be cautious as Covid is still around.     We are suggesting that on a regular basis you carry out a lateral flow test before going to a gathering of any kind.     Please go to the following link to order free tests for yourself.
 https://www.gov.uk/order-coronavirus-rapid-lateral-flow-tests

We would also encourage mask wearing in church wherever possible.  Thank you for looking after yourself and others.
Clare Stainsby
I have changed the Prayer Tree to the Advent season. Please feel free to write your prayers of petition or thanks on a card from the box and peg it on the tree.  Thank you, Judy Ash.
