The Initial Upload Phase deadline for the 2021 Longitudinal Systems Analysis (LSA) is today, December 20, 2021.
The primary purpose of this deadline is to make sure communities can login to the Homelessness Data Exchange (HDX) 2.0, upload their LSA data, and identify critical upload errors that may need to be resolved prior to the start of the data cleaning process. Potential issues could be with the vendor export, the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) data or data structure, or import issues into the HDX 2.0. It is okay if the status of the preliminary upload is "rejected” by the time of this deadline. However, if this is the case, HUD recommends working with your vendor to resolve errors preventing your upload from being accepted during the data cleaning process.
Uploading your data to the LSA is distinct from submitting your data for HDX Team Review. The point of the Initial Upload Phase is to upload at least one Official HUD Review File to ensure that your data pass the initial upload error and format check. As mentioned, if your data does not pass this check you should work with your vendor to ensure that it can. Once your Official HUD review file is as free of errors as possible and has warnings that are comprehensively addressed with notes, you should submit your data for HDX Team Review. This is a signal for your Liaison to examine your dataset and give you feedback if there are outstanding questions.
You can find detailed information on the full LSA submission process in Chapters 3 and 4 of An Introductory Guide to Submitting LSA Data for the AHAR.
Your Data Liaison will help your Continuum of Care (CoC) resolve questions about the LSA submission process. If you have not received an outreach email from your Data Liaison, please submit a question to the HUD Exchange Ask A Question (AAQ) portal.
