Cook County Public Health Department
Today, the Cook County Department of Public Health issued new COVID-19 mitigations that will go into effect on Monday January 3, 2022. Patrons of certain businesses must now show proof of vaccination when entering indoor dining establishments with on-premise dining (restaurants, country clubs, coffee shops), event spaces, theaters and fitness centers. These restrictions do not apply for food carry out. Proof of vaccination status should be with one of the following:
- A CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card; or
- An official immunization record from the jurisdiction, state, or country where the vaccine was administered
- An ‘app’ that provides a digital record of vaccinations
- A digital or physical photo of such a card or record that includes the individual’s name, the vaccine brand administered, and the date the vaccination was administered.

Stay Safe This Holiday Season
As COVID-19 cases rapidly rise both locally and across the nation, the Village urges you to consider COVID-19 safety guidance from our public health agencies. Get tested if you don’t feel well, and consider whether now is the best time to get together with friends and family. Also, remember to wear a high-quality mask when in public, practice social distancing and get vaccinated.

Recycling Programs
As a reminder, the Village offers free recycling programs for holiday lights and trees. Drop off holiday lights at the Public Works Service Building (320 Hazel Avenue) through April 1, 2022, and trees may be placed at the curb any Wednesday in January (no sticker required) for pickup by LRS. Please ensure all lights and decorations are removed from trees. For additional information about the many available recycling options, including those for electronics, batteries and light bulbs, click here.
For textiles, Simple Recycling provides a free recycling program for Glencoe residents – and your participation helps divert textiles from landfills. Instead, items will be sent to resale or thrift outlets, exported to international markets or recycled into new products. If needed, additional textile collection bags are available at Village Hall (675 Village Court). More information about Simple Recycling and other recycling opportunities can be found here.
