Amidst unprecedented challenges for families and communities, we would like to express our gratitude to our many friends for the inspiring service you have contributed this year. This has been a year of growth for the Family Success Institute (FSI) and the Learning Community. There are visible accomplishments of the family success movement: legislation introduced, emerging community directed service networks, and collaboration on groundbreaking policy development. We send our thanks and best holiday wishes to our Learning Community partners and other activists who are helping New Jersey turn a page in history as the leading state in the family success movement.
In 2022 we will redouble our efforts to enact our proposed Bill of Rights and the Community Recovery and Family Success Act. The COVID-19 pandemic has increased awareness of longstanding inequities and prejudice in our State. The opportunity to overcome firmly entrenched attitudes and actions is here but fleeting, and the risk of retrenchment to old patterns is real, particularly as the fear (but not the effects) of the pandemic recedes. In 2022, FSI together with our Learning Community partners can transform government to invest in success and to expand opportunity and wellbeing to communities and individuals excluded for too long. Both the challenge and the opportunity have never been greater as we enter the new year.
Wishing all good health, peace and well-being in this holiday season and in 2022,
Tim Carden, Executive Director
Tom Blatner, Co-Founder & President, Board of Directors
