On Wednesday, December 8, 32 McClymonds High Schoolers attended the last of our 2021 3-Hour Taster classes offered through our partner program. Students were visibly excited to learn new techniques in Blacksmithing, Ceramics, Glass Flameworking, Glass Fusing, Leatherworking, and Welding.
Brandon participated in Leatherworking, his first choice class followed by Blacksmithing, which he is excited to take in the new year. And Raven returned for her second session of Ceramics after loving her first experience.
These classes not only offer students new opportunities for self-expression, but they also provide opportunities to connect STEAM concepts, develop problem-solving skills, and build confidence. Keeping the industrial arts accessible to all is vital to our community and our mission. With your support, we can ensure West Oakland youth continue to have access to the transformative power of art.
If 250 individuals make a donation of any size before the year ends, an anonymous donor has pledged an additional $10,000, increasing the impact of every donation. Will you support arts access for Oakland and Bay Area youth?
