A Reason To Live

Stories from the Mountains
As told to Paola
...........

Hello! My name is Grover Choque. I am 30 years old and I come from a small town in the Inquisivi Province. Four years ago I was in a car accident where I fractured my cervical vertebra C5-C6. In the hospital, my surgery was delayed due to financial reasons and after four months I was finally able to have the needed operation. They put a platinum piece in my back and I returned home with the sad news of that I would not be able to move my body again. I was stuck inside at home for 4 years without strength, very depressed, and without hope of living. One day I heard that some church members who help people in my situation had come to my town. I quickly asked my mother to find them and talk with them. That's how I learned of Proyecto B3 and met DJ and Paola (PT). They offered to help me and I was very grateful when they found a place for me to stay in Cochabamba while receiving the necessary help in my rehabilitation. I feel better and stronger and have once again found a will and reason to live. I have a daughter, Mayerli, who also gives me a reason to continue pressing on every day and I am very grateful to God and Proyecto B3 for what they have done for me. I am so much better now!

Sometimes it is not easy to be in my situation. It requires a lot of patience that only God can give. It is sad to think that there are many people that aren’t able to get help because of a lack of financial or emotional support. It is often very lonely to be like this and I thank God and everyone for your support and your prayers!
(It took nearly a year to figure out how we could help Grover and arrange for his housing and care. He has been in Cochabamba since May this year and is looking at a long-term rehabilitation plan over the course of the next couple years. There are several others in a similar situation waiting for us to find housing/care. We are praying right now for God to provide just the place for us to open a small center for disabled people from the mountains to receive physical therapy and good nutrition to boost their recovery. Please pray with us!! Paola, Proyecto B3 Physical Therapist, is doing a great job coordinating this part of the ministry.)

John the Baptist

A 400-year gap spans seemingly empty between the Old and New Testaments. God’s people have suffered under worldly rulers and haven’t seen many signs of His power. Many are clinging to Malachi’s promise of the coming of “Elijah the prophet.” Could this John be the one they are waiting for?
For DECEMBER 22

Read Luke 1:26-38

An Angel Appears to Mary

Jesus, Mary’s child, is the one who will ultimately fulfill Israel’s longing for their Messiah. May we be as willing and ready to accept God’s calling for our lives as Mary was upon the angel’s visit saying, “Let it be to me according to your word.” The lily traditionally represents purity.
