What St. Olave’s means to me

“… St. Olave’s has always been around when we needed it and I never questioned that it always would be.”
– Sue Harris
Dear <<First name>>,

May this letter find you and your loved ones happy and healthy this Christmas season! I hope that, like me, you agree with Sue’s poignant comment about St. Olave’s and are comforted by it. With so much uncertainty in the world, we can rejoice in the certainty that St. Olave’s is there for us all.

Many thanks to those of you who have taken to heart some of the “Twelve Ways of Christmas” shared in November’s Advent mailer. Thank you for continuing to attend services in-person and online. Thank you to those who have taken a moment to include a message of gratitude with your recent gifts or your positive response to receiving the For the Love of St. Olave’s booklet. Thank you to those of you who purchased a poinsettia to beautify the altar and supported the ACW by shopping on the online Christmas Emporium! Please know that your good thoughts, words and deeds are truly appreciated.

Thank you also for your generous Christmas gifts to St. Olave’s, which have made a signficant impact towards achieving our giving target. Since our November update, the givings for the final quarter have more than doubled. With one week left in 2021, we are at 81% of our total givings goal for the year. This does not include the highly successful Lead, Kindly Light window sponsorship program, which raised $30,000, as well as a large designated gift to support our curacy program until August 30, 2021.

December 31 Charitable Giving Deadline
If you wish to make your donation for the 2021 tax year, please note that the deadline is midnight, December 31. Donations can be made
online (our tithe.ly platform allows you to use your credit card or set up a withdrawal from your bank account). You can also give  by cheque, payable to St. Olave’s Anglican Church. Please mail to 360 Windermere Ave, Toronto, ON M6S 3L4.

Any mailed donations with a postmark from 2021 will be eligible for a 2021 income tax receipt. If you aren’t sure how much you have already given this year, please contact our Envelope Secretary Doug Hewitt at envelopesecretary@stolaves.ca.

I continue to ask you to prayerfully consider how you may support St. Olave’s in these final two weeks of 2021. If you can, please designate a Christmas gift to St. Olave’s.

I wish you and your loved ones a blessed Christmas,

Martha Drake
Chair, For the Love of St. Olave’s Stewardship Committee

P.S. For those of you who give using numbered envelopes, or would like to start doing so, please note that they will be available for pick-up in the Narthex at the Windermere doors as of December 24.

Please note
Yesterday's e-blast included a listing of upcoming Christmas services. We forgot to include the name of the anthem at our 10:30 a.m. Christmas Day service. The Rev'd Dr. Jim Leatch and Dr. Sandra Boyes will sing “Gesu Bambino” by Pietro Yon. The service will not be live streamed but those in attendance will enjoy this special duet.
