Dear friends

2021 was a “CCC" year - Change, Challenges and Confidence. Change in every aspect of life; health, family, job, friends, you name it…, related or unrelated to Covid-19. These Changes, often brought Challenges. Many lost their loved ones due to Covid-19 or other causes. Emotional, financial and other Challenges suddenly knocked on our life’s door. There will be empty seats around our Christmas table, this year. As for the future, it looks bleak and uncertain for many of us. But, through it all, a still small voice whispers in our hearts "have Confidence in God for "even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you (my God) are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” Psalm 23.

CCCs" are a part of life. No one escapes them. But the last makes the difference - Confidence in God. Without it we crumble in the face of painful Changes and Challenges. He is indeed with us as we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, of suffering and uncertainty. We can put our Confidence in Him.

2021 also brought changes to the EUD Health Ministries Department. Valérie Dufour, our previous Director, as taken up other responsibilities. We thank her for her commitment, dedication, hard work and faith. And, we wish her God´s richest blessings in her ministry and life. Valérie asked the team to share her farewell letter with all of you (see below).

So, as we move into another CCC year, may God help you to have Confidence in Him. He never leaves nor forsakes you. May you be of good health and, if health fails, may He comfort you and grant you His peace, as you put your Confidence in Him.

Dear friends,

I hope my message finds you in good health.

With the present health crisis and the postponing of the General Conference, the elections in our Division have also been postponed and took place this year on May 24, 2021.

At this occasion, Dr. Viriato Ferreira has been appointed by the Executive Committee as the new Health Ministries Director of the Division. I want to wish Him God’s rich blessings and leading for his responsibilities.

It has been a great privilege and an blessed experience for me, to serve as the Division Health Ministries Director since January 2014 and to work, interact and collaborate with many of you, medical professionals, administrators of a healthcare institutions, Church leaders, pastors, engaged members etc.
During those years, the performance of my assignments has been greatly helped by the dedicated service of my assistants: Ruben Ferreira, Iris Mory-Ladislas and Sonja Arnold together with the support of colleagues from the Unions, Division and General Conference.
To all thank you!

The mission of our Church is about people and helping them on their way to wholeness. Service is a law of heaven and a part of our preparation for it. So "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Galatians 6:9, NIV

May the Lord continue to be with you, to be your strength, your shield and the strength of His people. Psalm 28:7-8.

Kind regards
Valérie Dufour
