Fostering Friendships

People have a natural need for friends, and with good reason.  Friends increase your enjoyment of life, relieve feelings of loneliness, and even help reduce stress and improve your health.

Strong friendships, based on trust and respect, will survive the test of time.  But that doesn't mean you can take them for granted.  Life is busy, and it is easy to forget to show friends appreciation.

Strengthening Friendships

All it takes is a little effort and creativity to keep relationships alive and fun.  Use these ideas to keep your friendships strong:

- Update your personal phone book every six months; it gives you a chance to catch up with old friends.
- Send a card for no reason other than to let a friend know how special he or she is to you.
- Think of a fun trip or even you and a friend experienced together and call him or her to reminisce.

Workplace Friendships

You spend a lot of time with people at work.  Try these ideas to indicate how much your co-workers mean to you:

- Buy some low-cost, fun toys for co-workers to keep on their desks.
- If you see a television show or read an article that would interest a co-worker, send a link to the show or email them the article.
- If someone helped you out, let his or her supervisor know with a quick email.

Fitness Trends for 2022

Recently, the conversation around fitness started to change, as more poeple focused on the well-being an mental health benefits of exercise instead of aesthetic goals.  The pandemic propelled this shit even more because quarantine and grieving in isolation formed many to see exercise as a form of practicing self-care.

People are becoming more aware of fitness as being about wellness and not just weight loss as they take a more holistic approach by evaluating their lifestyle.

If you want to make 2022 the year to transform your health and fitness, the following trends can help you find a deeper purpose for making movement a priority in your life.  Whether you want to build confidence, combat stress and anxiety, or simply make more time for yourself in the new year, these fitness trends and others can help you get there.

Hybrid Virtual and In-Person Training - a mix of both the ability to train anywhere and the human interaction that's important for well-being

Personalized Fitness - While personal training might have been seen as a splurge in the past, many are seeing it as a way to prioritize self-care and health

Shorter, Stackable Workouts - due to working from home for so many months, many gained an appreciation for shorter workouts that could be squeezed in over a lunch hour or between Zoom meetings

Kettlebell Workouts - Kettlebells became extremely popular during the pandemic and their versatility will help them continue to be so as they can be used to mimic every day functional movements like lifting groceries off the floor
