Introducing our Newest Leaders
We are proud to announce the following leadership promotions in our practice areas and regional positions. At Alta, our goal is to create a place where people feel empowered to learn and grow in an environment that rewards those efforts. As we welcome our newly appointed members of Alta’s leadership team, we want to recognize and congratulate these staff members for developing the skills necessary to step into these important roles.
Based in Portland, OR, Beth manages national strategic initiative campaigns for Alta, combining her design background with marketing and business development. She was one of the key members of the marketing team to initiate Alta's new mobility group, helping communities provide for current and future mobility needs. 
James Powell has been with Alta for nearly a decade in our Los Angeles office. During his tenure, he has successfully combined his experience in advertising and graphic design with his training in urban and landscape design to deliver a wide range of design solutions for communities throughout Southern California. His dedication to trails and complete streets, his creative approach and collaborative spirit make him a great addition to Alta's Principal group. 
Alta is pleased to promote Marguerite Schumm to Art Director. With 12 years design experience and a certificate in Communication Design and a degree in Industrial and Interaction Design, Marguerite capably manages the entire graphic design department, delivering high-quality reports, graphics, animations, videos, icons, maps, website designs, and much more for Alta's clients. In 2020, she was the lead designer on Alta's brand refresh process, and led brand implementation. Alta is thrilled to have Marguerite on board to elevate our practice and build our Creative Services team.

  • People walking are the most vulnerable users of the transportation system. This new tool, developed by the Minnesota Department of Transportation and Alta, uses holistic data to prioritize the needs of people walking.
  • French car commercials will soon urge buyers to reconsider driving, according to new regulations. Hear what Alta's Jessica Roberts and other experts have to say. 
  • The West Maui Greenway plan will create a 25-mile multi-use biking and walking trail that will connect Ukumehame to Līpoa Point in West Maui. We're excited to be part of creating a safer and more enjoyable way to get around this part of the island.
  • The new 2,590-mile Bay Area regional trail network map was just released! When complete, nine in 10 Bay Area residents will live within two miles of the trail network. Alta is proud to be one of the long-serving members of the Bay Area Trails Collaborative, with Alta Principal Jeff Knowles co-chairing the Communications & Partnership Committee.
