Buke and Gase + Rahrah Gabor EP

On FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 12th Brassland will release the Buke and Gase + Rahrah Gabor EP which consists of three Buke and Gase tracks featuring rapper Rahrah Gabor and three instrumental interludes. The first single is now streaming — LISTEN.

Buke and Gase are music experimenting partners Arone Dyer and Aron Sanchez whom Pitchfork has described as "sonic explorers, looking for ways to warp and refine an idiosyncratic craft." They were introduced to the emerging New Jersey rapper Rahrah Gabor through some mutual friends and were immediately struck by her style and flow. (“Hip hop's Omar Little. Only prettier” is how she describes herself.) They first met in person on election day in November 2018 — back in the before-Covid times — when Rahrah Gabor opened up for their show at New York's legendary Mercury Lounge venue. We asked the artists how they'd describe the music they've made together to someone who isn’t familiar with their previous work.

ARONE DYER (her): This EP with Rahrah Gabor is an experimental collaboration between 3 individual creators, like a Tinder thruple date that goes well enough to consider having dinner and asking about each other’s middle names.

RAHRAH GABOR (her): It gets playful, a little dark, sexy, and anthemic at times.

ARON SANCHEZ (him): We wanted to do something with Lala, so this is it.

RAHRAH GABOR (her): Basically, I’m advising people on how to step up their taste!

If you're near New York City, the three artists will perform together on SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 12th at Public Records in Gowanus, southern Brooklyn — TICKETS. Buke and Gase's set will span their full discography, including some unreleased material. Obviously much depends on the Omicron situation but we feel confident the show will happen.

A Record Of debuts on streaming services

The full 10 song version of Buke and Gase's collaborative album with So Percussion arrives on streaming services January 28, 2022. To our surprise and delight, the LP was named one of “5 Classical Albums to Hear Right Now” by the New York Times last year when it came out on Bandcamp (download / vinyl / compact disc).

It finally arrives on streaming services in celebration of its 1st birthday. In the meantime check out “Hold It In” which started streaming for the first time on December 31st, 2021. NPR Music praised the track for its “wonderful twists and turns." — LISTEN
