Dear Holy Cross Families,

It is always such a joy to reconnect with students after a long break!  Over the past few days of visiting with students in classrooms, I have enjoyed listening to their stories about Christmas vacations, cozy movie nights, visiting with extended family, and New Years resolutions.  As a parent of school-aged children myself, I know that it is never easy to start waking up early and packing lunches again.  I also know it’s a pain to have to dig out the snow gear and make sure each child has gloves, snow pants, etc. ready to take to school.  So…thank you!  Thank you for making the effort to get your children here on time and thank you for sending them with all necessary supplies.

Thank you, also, to all of the families who have kept their children home because they are sick or because they have somehow been exposed to COVID-19.  Thank you for contacting both the office (to let us know) and your child’s homeroom teacher (to ask for assignments).  Unfortunately, we have definitely felt the impact of the rising number of COVID cases in our community and have had more students and teachers out than usual.  Though we have had a few isolated positive cases within our school (and have contacted the families of any children in those classrooms involved), we are finding that most of our students in quarantine are absent because of contact with positive cases that are not related to our school community.

As we work together to keep our school community as safe as possible, we want to let you know that we have rapid tests available for any student who might present symptoms.  Please just ask and we will be happy to administer the test!  We also have a vaccine clinic scheduled for next Wednesday, January 19th from 4:00-8:00 p.m. here in our school gym.  This is a walk-in clinic (no appointment necessary) and is open to anyone ages 5 and up.  The Indiana Department of Health will be administering first vaccines, second vaccines, and even boosters.  Please consider coming and inviting anyone you know who might also want to receive a vaccine. Remember there is no registration needed!

In the meantime, we continue to give glory to God through the total education of each student here at Holy Cross School!  Enjoy these images of what learning and building community have looked like over the past few days and please also look for an email about registration information within the next few days.

Have a great week!

Queridas familias,
