Hi all

Happy New Year! This is the first site update of the year and I hope you’ve enjoyed the first two weeks of 2022. For obvious reasons, the last two years have been tough, but we thank God that He has continued to sustain us throughout the pandemic, and I pray that we would continue to abide in Christ in 2022.

The first two sermons at King’s this year have been very encouraging and timely and so if you haven’t heard them yet, can I encourage you to go on our website and listen to ‘Abide in Me’ from Joe Macnamara and the latest sermon ‘Living Hope’ from Andrew Wilson. Both sermons will do you good as you start the year.

As usual, there are lots of things going on at the start of the year, so perhaps get your diary ready and make note of the following exciting things:

Week of Prayer

We are coming to the end of our Week of Prayer which ends on Saturday, and I hope you’ve been able to join us to pray.

This evening, we have our own Beckenham Site Prayer Meeting on Zoom from 7-8pm. This is a great opportunity to gather to worship, encourage one another and pray for one another’s wellbeing. Can I encourage you to make every effort to attend – we’d love to see you there. The Zoom details are below and will also be available on the website this evening.

Groups & Alpha

The early church met corporately once a week but also during the week in homes (Acts 2:46). They understood the importance of meeting regularly to encourage one another and grow in faith.

Can I encourage you to join a group this term where you can meet others and connect into the life of the church.

In this current season, most groups are meeting on Zoom but if you are unsure whether the group is meeting online or in person, please sign up and the group leader will contact you to confirm. All the groups information and ways to sign up can be found on the Groups page.

I am leading the Alpha course this term, a course designed to help people explore the Christian faith, which starts on Thursday 3 February. Why not think about who you can invite to Alpha. Never underestimate the power of an invitation – it could change a person’s life!

Sunday 16th January – Family Service

At King’s we believe that there is something powerful and enriching that takes place when the whole church gathers corporately. God can speak to each of us and through each of us, regardless of age, for the strengthening of the church.

This Sunday we have a Beckenham Family Service which is for everyone – including babies/toddlers through to adults. It will be a fun, interactive service with worship, activity areas for children, ministry time and a short message – with the whole service lasting 45 minutes.

Please make every effort to attend so you can encourage others, while also being encouraged by the faith of others.

Other Dates for the Diary

Tuesday 18th January – Group Leaders’ Meeting (7.30-9pm)

Sunday 23rd January – Baptism Service (10.30am at Harris Academy)

Wednesday  26th January – Beckenham Leaders’ Meeting (8-9pm)

That’s all from me today. I hope you have a great weekend and I look forward to seeing you on Sunday for our Family Service.

Blessings,
Charles

Beckenham Site leader

Latest on Steve’s Blog – An interview with Kwaku Osafo

“As I said in my last blog posting, over the next few weeks I want to profile a number of key leaders from within our black community and celebrate the skills, talent, faith and hard work they bring to King’s. I hope you all enjoyed last week's blog post introducing Janett Reid, our Head of Operations.

Today I'd like to introduce you to Kwaku Osafo, who serves as an elder and trustee at King’s...” Read more
