Symmetry or Not?  - AKA Architects

View this email in your browser

As humans we tend to gravitate toward symmetry. However, sticking to a solely symmetrical design can lead to a flat space that lacks character.

Energetic Asymmetry
By incorporating asymmetrical elements, a room can instantly come alive. Asymmetry in design can be achieved through elements like alcoves and columns to create visual interest in a room. However, if you are looking for a very subtle option, simply hanging wall art off center can work too!

Too Much Asymmetry?
Asymmetrical elements can become attention grabbing very quickly. It's best used here and there to create moments of intrigue and excitement in a space. In areas designated as calming
environments (bedrooms, patient rooms, spas...etc.), it's better to stick with symmetrical design in many cases.
