Congratulations to Dr. David Liebovitz and Dr. Mahesh Vaidyanathan on the launch of the Digital Health and Data Science curriculum within the Feinberg School of Medicine. This curriculum is a new component of the medical education curriculum to current medical students.
|
|
The new curriculum component will see students meeting several core competencies and learning outcomes while learning about the health data ecosystem; the health IT regulatory environment; data science methods and research; digital health decision support; bias, ethics and health equity; and the sociotechnical context for digital health and data science.

AI4H Clinic
This event is open to clinicians who want to discuss a clinical problem or challenge they face that might be addressable through Artificial Intelligence. As part of the HSIP442 course that teaches the topic on Augmented Intelligence for Healthcare (AI4H), throughout the quarter, we will organize several after-class sessions (3:30pm-4:30pm) to engage with the Northwestern Medicine clinician community.
These sessions are called AI4H clinics. During these sessions, clinicians that are interested in AI for healthcare will come to talk through their problems and ideas. Students, led by the instructor and course staff, will provide consultation to clinicians, think over and debate on solutions to the problem and submit a write-up of their experiences shortly after the session. For physicians who previously presented a challenge with analysis-ready data early on, we were able to turn it to a class project resulting in publications.

2022 INVOForward Therapeutics Lecture Series
January 28, 2022 - Positioning and Establishing Your Clinical Significance
Should the final goal of drug development also be the first goal?
Please join us for the second INVOForward seminar during which Mitchell Glass (CEO & Chairman, Accolade Pharma; Principal, Broom Street Associates) will discuss clinical significance as a primary endpoint in the development of a therapeutic. His talk will focus on the impact of clinical significance on sample size, biostatistics, and financing. Dr. Glass will discuss the relevance of biomarkers and how much one can rely on them. He will explore clinical significance in lieu of statistical significance and address scenarios where clinical significance may raise the bar too high. He will also discuss clinical significance in context of “failing fast” and licensing.
This seminar is part of the INVOForward Therapeutics lecture series focused on helping Northwestern researchers gain insight into how to build a compelling therapeutic data package. Other INVOForward Therapeutics lectures may be found here.

Clinical Informatics Roundtable
Next meeting: January 28, 2022 @ Noon CT
Our long-term goal is to create a supportive community that encourages knowledge sharing and productive collaborations. In doing so, we can raise the tide for all boats. We believe that across the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern Medicine, and the wider Northwestern campus, we have critical mass to be a leader in Clinical Informatics. All are welcome, recognizing that great ideas can—and even more often do—cross over disciplines.
