BizforClimate is a business-led not-for-profit promoting action to address climate change and a rapid transition to a zero emissions economy.
Created to fill a growing demand from business owners and corporations to drive climate action, our mission is to mobilize the business community to promote solutions commensurate with the scale and urgency of the climate crisis.
To achieve our mission, we invite companies to sign a Climate Action Pledge, which states three things:
- Climate change is an urgent problem. We must act in line with the science.
- Climate action is now the best strategy to ensure future economic prosperity.
- Public policy is required to achieve solutions at scale and drive deep emissions reductions across all sectors of the economy.
We are making progress and building momentum.
We are growing. There are now 115 Signatories to the BizforClimate Pledge, representing companies large and small, and a diverse spectrum: manufacturing, financial services, digital media, education, construction, renewable energy, tourism, agriculture, retail, professional services, venture capital, and more.
We are meeting with policy-makers. We initiated relations with the Province of Manitoba and held a very productive introductory meeting with the Minister of Conservation and Climate. We will initiate much more dialogue in the year ahead to raise awareness and advocate for climate action, at all levels of government.
We are taking action. We supported climate action campaigns to promote reform to climate education in business schools, a national initiative led by the Canadian Business Youth Council for Sustainable Development. We also supported an open letter coordinated by Sustainable Building Manitoba to call for more investment and climate action from the City of Winnipeg.
This is only the beginning, and we look forward to a big year of progress and climate action in 2022.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, we thank all our Signatories and Sponsors for your support. This movement would not be possible without your contributions.
Sincerely,
Derek Earl
Founder and Chair of the Board

Canada's Net Zero Future
Getting to “net zero” emissions in Canada means shifting toward technologies and energy systems that do not produce greenhouse gas emissions, while offsetting any remaining emissions by removing them from the atmosphere and storing them permanently.
This comprehensive report by the Canadian Institute for Climate Choices outlines pathways and scenarios for Canada to consider as we embark on this critical task.
