"Idle" Art Opening Reception

Join us as we celebrate the opening reception for "Idle" at the DAAC tonight, January 7th from 6:00PM-9:00PM.
Logan Maruszak’s “Idle” is a glimpse of the mundane often glanced-over elegance that surrounds us. The innate quality of the human touch is what gives these pictures their grace. Like the subjects of these photographs, we are as unique as we are recognizable. This quality allows us to connect to the colors, textures, and minute details within our lives. Yet, only by our memories can these spaces let us see that connection to one another. The beauty of these places and objects are but only a reflection of the beauty we all hold within ourselves. Logan Maruszak is a new Michigander that has relocated from Seattle. Their photography ranges from architecture to live music. The elements they see in such a vast range of subjects are the very things that bind us all together. Growing up in a conservative household and being deployed to Afghanistan had given them a very narrow view of the world in their youth. Art and the medium of photography has allowed them to step outside the stereotypical boxes they were forced into. Through their art, Logan's mission is to illuminate the things in our lives that we have suppressed and helps us find the binding love that connects us all.

December's Artist Market Update

We hosted our first artist market on December 16th and 17th. Thank you to all of the artists that tabled: Bubagunush, Old Growth Creative, PsyanoForest Cyanotype Studio, Alejandra’s Creations, Kel Bassin, CootieBby, Alex Perez, World Champ Game Co, Lux Mushroon, Dreamy Hue Creative, KC Illustration and Design, Studio Hromi LLC, Loved Daisy, Helena Kore, and NobleFauna! Very special thanks to Nick (Old Growth Creative), Kel (Kel Bassin), Amelia (Psyanoforest Cyanotype Studio), Kelsey (Dreamy Hue Creative), Huong (Take Time Studio) for donating to our giveaways. We received over $100 in donations!
Another one-day Artist Market will be in March 2022. Stay tuned for a date announcement and vendor application.

Our next Volunteer Training is Saturday, January 15th from 2:00PM-4:00PM. We need volunteers for upcoming music shows and our next Can Collection and Return Fundraiser. Other committee roles involving fundraising and finance, our website's content and data entry along with position such as a Community Outreach Committee Leader, Youth Programming Lead or Assistant, an Online & In-person Street Team are still needed! If you're interested in volunteering just fill out our Volunteer Application. All open positions are listed online via Signup.com and are discussed at our monthly Public Meeting.
Also we'd like to thank two new volunteer coordinators who joined us recently and have been amazing: Jessica Sijan and Helena Kore.
