Of Course It's Off the Beaten Path....That's the Point! There's a Blues Trail, a Tamale Trail, a Scenic Levee Walking Trail....
Our friends at Country Roads Magazine shine the light on Greenville & nearby Indianola. Where to stay? They recommend Belmont! Click Image for Story.
Go See & Stay at Belmont!
You'll love experiencing the Mansion and its environs! This was Julia Reed's stomping grounds, and of course, she'd tell you to go eat at Doe's Place! I love the jukebox!
Some photos from stylish soirees my dear friend Julia Reed hosted at Belmont. She'd sweet-talk the owner and then create magical events. Julia spearheaded the phenomenal growth of the Delta Hot Tamale Festival which attracted top authors and chefs. In this majestic setting, the celebrations were always swell!
Last Surviving Mid-19th Century Delta Mansion Income-producing bed & breakfast maintains highest guest ratings.
Road Trip Reads: Julia Reed's Books Capture the Spirit of the South - particularly the Delta and downriver to New Orleans (and with her last book featuring my New Orleans courtyard on front, she takes a foray to my Acadiana ancestral home near Bayou Teche).
you really can take the road less traveled... The nearby Windsor Ruins & Rodney Ghost town are worth the trip, and there's plenty more to see and enjoy including the BEST fried chicken in Mississippi.

MANGEONS!
From a recent Sunday menu....
And there's the cuisine with iconic family-owned restaurants. The Yellow Bowl Restaurant is a longtime personal favorite.
Many years ago, the restaurant was owned by my maternal great grandmother, whom I vividly remember: Aglaé Mequet Millet Scranton (1878-1964).
Starting in 1927, she operated it for 10 years. It's among the oldest continually running restaurants in the state. Since 1953, the Roberts-Hulin family has owned The Yellow Bowl.

Thanks for the Review! Posted on zillow.com * * * * * Peter introduced my husband and I to a gorgeous property for sale on Marais Street, showed us around, and provided every resource we needed as we considered it. Not only was he so very knowledgable about the area, the particular block, the home's architecture and historic details, etcetera — his charisma, warmth and approachability led to us meeting several of the neighbors during our tour, who were generous and helpful.
Sidenote:
We subscribe to Peter's real estate newsletter full of breathtaking historic homes throughout the region and it's a real treat. ~Alexadra

CELEBRATES 100 YEARS With B E S T Cover Ever!
With the rising interest in modern interiors and architecture over the past couple decades or so, some have proclaimed the demise of interest in antiques.
Of course, my passion has never diminished for fine handcrafted period furniture. With my dear friend Andrew LaMar Hopkins' work making the 100 year anniversary cover of The MagazineAntiques, I am compelled to say: Antiques are Back! Painted for this moment in time, Andrew's extraordinary fold-out cover incorporates a free Creole person of color and design elements capturing the century. Well done!
