You do not need to cut out the foods you love

... in order to care about your body!

You deserve self-care in 2022.

With the New Year here, we often hear "I'm giving up XYZ" to be 'healthy!" However this needn't be the case and trying too hard to restrict yourself, can lead to feelings of anxiety & even guilt around food, which isn't good!

If this resonates with you, we hope you find this letter useful as a reminder that it doesn't have to be this way. Keep in mind the 80/20 principle, which can help you to find your balance:

° 80% of the time aim to eat more nutrient-rich foods such as fruit, veggies, healthy fats, whole foods & protein sources. Each is filled with nutrients such as vitamins & minerals to support health and provide a long-lasting source of energy. Aim to fill a third to half of your plate with veggies, salad or plants to gain balance.

° 20% of the time then, it's okay and healthy to choose to eat 'less nutrient dense foods' (aka SOUL FOOD) such as mudslides, ice creams & desserts which provide energy & can also benefit our mental well-being by providing a sense of enjoyment & balance.

Eating nutrient-dense foods 100% of the time can be difficult to maintain, isn't required for physical health, & can impact our social well-being too. Try to practice intuitive eating and don't be afraid to say 'yes' when you fancy it, and 'no' when you don't or when you feel you have had enough to eat.

That means doing things like listening to your intuition, and treating yourself to the freshest and most seasonal produce, including Caribbean lobster and local tomatoes, with Upstairs at Kaibo restaurant's  6-course tasting menu.

Or join the Rare Rum SupperClub and learn more about fine rum. This year's first SupperClub theme is centred around dishes and drinks that traditionally bring good luck.

If you are following Veganuary, you'll be happy to see Kaibo Beach Restaurant's a la carte menu has plenty of vegan dishes, just look for the  (√ ) sign. Many vegetarian (v) and gluten-free (gf) dishes are also widely available.

Get your 80% with a nutrient -rich abundant feast under the full moon at Luna Del Mar or find cheer with your 20% and choose a s'mores pizza from the Wood Fire Oven Menu.

However you choose to spend 2022, Kaibo's playground of escapism, among swaying coconut trees, plus Cayman's finest rum collection and craft cocktails and mocktails  make it the perfect place to make this a year to remember!

Escape to Kaibo for great food and drink, and you’ll stay because you belong. Gather your friends and family together, at a time that matters most…. your time.

Find self care in great coffee

If 2021 taught us anything, we learned to appreciate the little things in life. Like the fact that you can drink the finest craft roasted Colombian coffee served on the beach, right here in in the Cayman Islands.

Won't any Joe do, you ask? We say; Forgive yourself when you get things wrong, and give yourself time to learn and grow. Getting up early and getting to the beach for Espresso coffee is a great way to start!
