Lunar New Year starts on February 1st and is celebrated for 15 days. This festival marks the first day of Spring according to the Chinese solar calendar. Traditionally celebrated by the ethnic Chinese, it is now celebrated by 1/4 of the world population in some way. Wear red, eat sweets, greet your fellow postdocs by saying "Happy New Year", and rejoice in the Year of the Tiger!

3) Formation of DEI Committee as new permanent committee in UWPA. New position of International Support Chair to lead International Postdoc Peer Support Group.
UWPA Board membership fills dual purposes: (1) Serving the postdoc community. (2) Building/demonstrating professional skillsets outside your primary academic work. Learn more about these roles and fill out this quick questionnaire to sign up, or email us with questions. We welcome postdocs of all fields & titles from all Seattle-area institutions.

The UWPA welcomes all postdocs working at the University of Washington and neighboring institutions, regardless of the color of their skin, country of birth, gender, sexuality, religion, age, disability, socio-economic status and experiences. We recognize the UW postdoc community does not fully represent the diversity of the general population. We are deeply committed to enhancing welfare, inclusivity, and equity for the entire postdoctoral community.
