LAH Community Fiber - January 2022
Newsletter
Construction has started on the Fremont Rd/Burke Extension Fiber Project.  The first leg is being installed in front of Gardner Bullis School on Fremont Rd and will move toward Burke Rd in the next few weeks.  Come out and check the operations to install our fiber backbone conduit.  Our fiber is then pulled through the 8 individual micro-duct conduits that are inside of that large orange conduit.
Here is a short video showing the horizontal boring by Tight Access as we install our fiber conduit.  Feel free to come out to Fremont Rd in the next few weeks to see our fiber installations operation as we bore and then pull the LAHCF fiber backbone conduit back into the hole.  It is fast, and typically does not require removing payment or trenching.

Dear LAHCF newsletter subscribers,

Launch of Fremont Rd/Burke Extension Installation

We have started to dig!  (Well actually "bore" is a better word!)

To help spread the word about this build, we have posted on Nextdoor to warn residents and motorist of this active build and some potential traffic delays while we install the fiber.  If possible, please visit the Nextdoor posting and add a comment so it bubbles up to the top of Nextdoor.

Starting Friday January 7th 2022, the Los Altos Hills Community Fiber Fremont Rd - Burke Extension has started installation of LAHCF fiber backbone on Fremont Rd. In the next few weeks, LAHCF will be installing fiber conduit in the road - right-of-way to bring community Internet fiber to properties and streets on Fremont Rd between Fremont Pines Lane and Burke Rd. At times there will some short traffic delays.

To install the Fiber Backbone conduit, LAHCF is using an advanced method of horizontal boring rather than trenching. Attached are some pictures and video of this unique method where we can bore about 300 feet at a time and then pull our conduit cable back thru the hole that we just bored.

We will be going down Fremont Rd about 300 feet at a time.

If you live on or adjacent to Fremont Rd on this section, we can now connect you shortly. For more information about the Community Fiber Project and to get a site survey for connection and subscription pricing, please visit the LAH Community Fiber website at www.lahcommunityfiber.org and click on the Get Service Link.

We are offering a Gigabit service (940 mb/sec up and down) as our minimum service and also offer 10 Gig service too (around 9,500 mb/sec up/down) for those that wish to use their own router devices. Once we complete this build, we have several more builds that have been funded to extend the fiber as far as Summer Hill Rd. There are many more projects being developed as well. Please contact LAHCF if you have questions or any issues with the installation of the conduit.

Weekly LAHCF Champion Meetings:
Each Friday at 10:30 AM is the neighborhood champion virtual meeting where champions or future champions jump on to discuss their projects.  Current champions help to mentor new champions on this call and review the tools and resources available to them.  Information on this meeting is available on the Champions Page on the website.

Sincerely,

LAH Community Fiber and Next Level Networks
