Congratulations, Dr. Pianpian Cao!  Dr. Cao received the JUnior Investigator Career Enhancement (JUICE) award from the Cancer Intervention and Surveillance Modeling Network (CISNET), for her research,  "Mechanistic model for cancer recurrence risk prediction: Understanding the underlying mechanisms".  The project works to develop a mechanistic stochastic model of recurrence for prostate and lung cancer; results from the project may help to understand the biological mechanisms behind cancer recurrence, and the developed recurrence risk prediction model may be used in microsimulation models to assess strategies for cancer progression management.

Michigan Public Health Launches Master of Science Degree in Computational Epidemiology and Systems Modeling

In this program, students are trained to become highly skilled epidemiologists who can understand and analyze public health problems with mathematical and statistical models.

Epidemiological models and simulation-based analyses are increasingly used to inform public health policy and practice. Notably, throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, government agencies, policy-makers and others have used epidemiological models to help inform decision-making and slow the spread of the virus.
