Welcome to a whole new, brand spanking new year! Summer is well underway, the weather has been glorious and it’s hard not to feel a bit more optimistic (yeah, even in a pandemic. Can’t last forever, can it. CAN IT?).
While there’s no Kiwiburn, the community has been busy and is shaping up with a small but fine smattering of alternatives to get your Burn fix across the country, read all about them below.
We’re going to release more info on refunds very soon as well as things crank back into action. We know you all want to know what’s going on there, so watch this space.
In the meantime, we wish you a healthy, regenerative and safe year, perhaps even a normal one, whatever this means to you!

We have dried our tears and sighed our sighs, and loved the support from the community for the hard decision to cancel Kiwiburn this year. Now, the end of January approaches and many Burners are Doing A Thing, because we’re resourceful like that! The events are small and therefore don’t have the same Covid risks as the Burn would, and we are delighted to see what’s cooking out there.
If you would like to use the Electric Fencepost or our FB trumpet to promote your mini-burn, give us a shout at news@kiwiburn.com. Meanwhile, read about Spyre and ReGen and get applying and creating!

As the embers of Kiwiburn crackle and spit, a lone spark has traveled over land and sea, making its way to a new home deep in the heart of Te Waipounamu. A few dedicated souls have taken to fanning that spark into a flame and now in late January 2022, we’re inviting a small crowd of beautiful humans to converge for a new experience:
A renegade burn on a site surrounded by spectacular native bush, with crystal clear water flowing through it, and native birdlife singing its song.
Here we’ll create something spectacular, and through movement and sound we’ll celebrate the birth of a new gathering.
So pack up your vans and light up your souls as we introduce to the world: SPYRE.
If you’re keen to check it out, especially if based in the South Island (though open to all) please join our FB group.
Or go straight to filling out our Expression of Interest (what we’re using to gather email addresses to send out ticket links). See you in the South!

Surrounded by the luscious natural setting of Adventure Waikato, the ReGen team is creating and regenerating, fundraising for tree planting and shaping the stunning outdoor location with art and other curiosities to enjoy for years to come.
Leave No Trace, Consent and Great vibes are things you can expect.
This event has a DJ line up and a focus on high quality sound, but it is powered by a Burner spirit. All proceeds go to upgrading the facilities and regenerating the land.
Check out their facebook page and buy tickets here.

Burning Man has taken a hiatus during Covid, but they are back in 2022, with many changes to the way things are run. Turnkey operations are disrupted, and coffee is no longer sold! Read all about it here.
If you are hoping to head to BM2022, there is also a page for Kiwis and Aussies prepping to go, here.
