What's New?

Monday is Martin Luther King, Jr Day. The Museum will be open from 10am-12pm and 1pm-3pm. To celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr and his I Have A Dream speech, the day's activity will encourage children to trace their own hands and write their own dreams for their world.

Many businesses and organizations are encountering staffing issues, due to illness or a shortage in the work force. We have experienced some of these issues, too. Please know that we continue to operate fully, as we’re able. Even if the museum is closed for visitors, we continue to operate the Help Me Grow-Skagit Family Resource Center, and care for the creatures in our four tanks. We hope that you stay as safe and healthy as possible.

Our salmon tank is no longer empty! Thanks to the Skagit Fisheries Enhancement Group and Washington Dept of Fish & Wildlife we have a new collection of eggs in the tank. Come by and see them! How many do you count? When do you think they might hatch? This batch of salmon will stay with us from the egg stage, through the fry stage and will be released at the smolt stage.

Block Play!

We recently added a new line of bath blocks, from “Just Think Toys” of Bainbridge Island. Block play is one of the most versatile, exciting, and learning-filled activities for young children. They inspire problem-solving, science, mathematics, spatial and fine/gross motor skills, creativity, and imagination, and inspire cooperative play which supports social and emotional learning.

Blocks of various types, materials and colors are found throughout the museum exhibits, including the architectural blocks in the Design Studio, several types in the Toddler Farmyard, and the Big Blue Imagination blocks--block play on a scale that inspires some amazing creations in our STEAM Lane exhibit!

Bath Blocks are available in the Museum Toy Store, and remember that CMSC Members get 10% off!
