touch point...

I can't remember when I finally settled down about What I'm Here To Do. (Most likely it was sometime after I moved away from L.A...;-))

That's when I started to get up early in the morning & run through the fog of Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. Listening for the soft songs of the redwoods there. Then down to the empty beach, with my own noise quieted enough to hear the deep voice of the waves & the wind.

The thing that is still most clear to me is how the voices of living things, voices we often miss because we're so caught up in our own louder & faster, never asked for my acknowledgement. If anything, they more often surrounded me with the expansiveness of themselves & then asked in their own way, How is it with you this fine day?

It's funny how I learned to be more human from the ones I first thought of only as nature...

with love, kai

P.S. 'touch point' is one of the classic watercolors I did in 2020 on a Japanese paper that gets slightly translucent when it's wet. So the writing & lines on the reverse of the page often show through...

Like many of our stories, this one's available in any gender you'd like.
