Future Turtles Newsletter #1

Hey <<First Name>>!

It’s time to start planning for Burning Man 2022. I’m going to send out a million emails. Please read them!

For now, I just wanted to let you know about some important upcoming dates you should pencil in right now:

All-hands Camp Meetings

We’re going to have three all-hands camp meetings in New York during the year.

  • Sunday March 6

  • Sunday June 19

  • Sunday August 14

Meetings will be at 6 PM EST, location TBA.

ACTION ITEM: put these on your calendar!

Reno Work Weekends

We’re also planning Reno Work Weekends. We gotta clean the heck out of all the old gear, unpack and prepare lots of new gear, and build and decorate the awesome Pillow Fort trailer. These weekends are:

  • April 23-25

  • April 29-May 1

  • June 11-12

In general, 2022 campers should try to either attend one work weekend, or plan to arrive early for Burning Man for build week, or stay late after Burning Man as a part of the cleanup crew.

ACTION ITEM: figure out if you can attend one of these

What else is coming up?

We are starting to recruit department leads. Almost every position is open and if there is something that you think you can help with, either as a lead or just a volunteer, let me know:

  • Bike department (get bikes for everyone!)

  • Ticketing team (help everyone get tickets!)

  • Interactivity / Party Planning (we want to host many events)

  • Audio System (get DJ gear! Recruit DJs!)

  • Bar (drink menus and ingredients)

  • Public Space (frontage design, lights, main lounge decor)

  • Pillow Fort (design and build the awesome trailer)

  • Water and showers

  • Kitchen / Meals

  • Build (our camp)

  • Bootcamp (daily HIIT workouts)

  • Camp Guardians (camp morale, group cohesion, and crisis management)

ACTION ITEM: think about what you want to work on and talk to me, Peter, or Jon.

New Members? Sure!

We plan to have room for about forty campers this year. If you want to sponsor a new camper or bring your SO, please:

  • make sure they are on this mailing list. Sign up here.

  • make sure they meet the rest of the Turtles; bring them to meetings, work weekends, parties, etc.
