Updated Worship Protocols

Masks are required at all services, programs and events at the Chapel of the Cross.

Please note, in accordance with recommendations from the Episcopal Diocese of NC:

  • We will offer social distancing by pod, using every third pew in the nave.
  • Refraining from congregational singing and in-person choir practice through at least January 16, 2022.

We are continuing to offer a full schedule of Sunday services (7:45, 9 and 11:15 a.m., and 4 p.m.). The 9 a.m. service is livestreamed on the parish YouTube channel.

Email Scams
We've received reports of scam emails being sent using fake email accounts resembling a variation on the clergy and staff email addresses. Recent attempts even used staff headshots from our website.

No one from COTC will contact you asking you to purchase gift cards. Our IT provider recommends that if you receive email communication that seems suspicious, look at the email address of the sender.

If it ends with anything other than @thechapelofthecross.org, it is spam and should be reported and deleted.

The best thing you can do is to remain vigilant: if something seems suspicious check the address or contact the church office before acting or responding.
Sunday, January 23 | Acolyte Training
Do you want the best view in the house of our worship? Do you want to support our church? Are you in 5th-12th grade? Then we want YOU to serve as an acolyte!

We will be holding a training for anyone who wishes to serve as an acolyte (as well as those who already do) on Sunday, January 23 from 1-2 p.m. in the church. If you would like to join the acolytes, just come to the training or contact our Youth and Family Minister, Mike Peterson. No experience whatsoever is necessary, so come on out!

FAITH IN ACTION

Caring for God’s Creation
What would it take to get to net zero emissions by 2050? Is it even possible? It is a huge task, but there IS a way there. The International Energy Agency (IEA) has laid out a roadmap, which includes, starting today, NO investment in fossil fuel supply projects and immediate use of all available clean energy technology, combined with a major global push to accelerate innovation. It’s a new year, let’s do this a new way. Read the January issue of the Creation Care newsletter!
