- Re-opening schedule for spring 2022 -

Tuesday, January 18 - Friday, January 21
Our consulting ticketing system reopens. This week we will begin taking consulting ticket requests through our online ticketing system - submit a request here! We will offer consultations via email or scheduled personal Zoom meetings. During this time our virtual front desk will be closed and we will not offer workshops or consulting drop-in hours.

We are now offering our Python & R Fundamentals series in shorter 2-part series, with the introductory material available more often. This is in addition to our standard 4-part series that we will also continue to offer.

- Discovery Spring 2022 Partner Applications -

The Division of Computing, Data Science, and Society’s Data Science Discovery Program is accepting project partner applications for Spring 2022. If you are interested in getting talented Berkeley data science students to work on your data science research project, please apply today! The Data Science Discovery Program is open to all UC Berkeley faculty, graduate students, and postdocs, along with non-profits, government agencies, and UC Berkeley-affiliated startups. 

Since 2015, the Data Science Discovery Program has connected thousands of undergraduate data scientists with hands-on, team-based opportunities in hundreds of cutting-edge data-centered research projects with various organizations at UC Berkeley and beyond. 


In addition to helping recruit student researchers, Discovery Program can provide free cloud computing credits and mentorship from graduate students with data science expertise. The Discovery Program also offers project management training for students and additional consultations for projects that are attempting to get off the ground. 

We're accepting applications through January 14th and the recruitment timeline along with other information can be found on our website. The application can be accessed here

- Data Science Undergraduate Workshops -

Introduction to Data Analysis and Visualization 

This peer-led series of workshops is designed by undergraduates in collaboration with the Library Data Services Program to help undergraduates learn python basics for data analysis and visualization. Developed from the Software Carpentry Curriculum, undergraduate Data Peers will lead workshops to introduce basic data manipulation and visualization with Python. Each workshop is designed to act as a starting point for learning concepts and will familiarize attendees with additional resources for getting help. Unless you are already familiar with Python, these workshops are best taken as a successive series.

Introduction to Data Analysis with Python: January 25 | 7:00 - 8:15 PM
Data Analysis using NumPy: January 27 | 7:00 - 8:15 PM
Data Manipulation using pandas: February 1 | 7:00 - 8:15 PM
Creating Visualizations with Python: February 3 | 7:00 - 8:15 PM

- Opportunities with the Office of the
Vice-Chancellor for Research-

A Major Gifts Officer who will work closely with multidisciplinary centers, institutes and programs across a broad spectrum of areas spanning the STEM fields as well as social sciences and humanities under the administrative umbrella of the Vice Chancellor for Research. These programs represent research at the frontiers of many fields and bring together outstanding faculty, researchers, students, and alumni and friends of the university.
