Dear Friends and Fellow Republicans

Around the District - What Republicans are Doing To Better Our Lives

We talk a lot here about the things happening at the National and State Level, but not often enough about what’s happening at the local level.  As local issues often impact us more than what occurs at the federal/state level – thought it would be a good idea to thank some local elected officials for doing some good works and to bring everyone up to date on what a few local activists have done!

Steve Landes Augusta Clerk of the Court
For those of you who aren’t aware, I’m the world’s biggest fan of Virginia history.  From the settlement of Jamestown to the American Revolution to the War of 1812, to the American Civil War, to the Bedford Boys on D-Day, to modern day Virginia.  Our collective history has been among the most amazing in the world.

One thing I learned many years ago was that you can learn a lot about your local history from and inside local courthouses.  Each County or City Court House has pictures and portraits all over the building, not to mention original land grants and so many other documents for public viewing, that each County/City Court House is its own museum.

So with that being said, I want to take this time to publicly thank Augusta County Clerk of the Court Steve Landes for showing off the history of Augusta County through his online tours of the Augusta Court House – Steve does these both on Instagram and Facebook.   Following Steve and the Augusta County Court House has been such a learning experience – you’ll see everything from paintings of former Members of the Virginia House of Delegates from Augusta/Staunton – to original land grants – the list goes on.

Mayor Charlie Harbaugh (Middletown Va)

Not to be outdone, Mayor Charles Harbaugh of Middletown (also a re-enactor with the French and Indian War Society) has helped his Virginia regiment partner with the Winchester Brew Works to resurrect and “improve” on the 18th century beer recipe that George Washington used to help woo supporters in his 1st run for the House of Burgesses (little known fact was that G Washington was elected in Frederick County/Winchester and not from the Mount Vernon area).

Congrats to Tori Mabry
Tori Mabry, a rising star in the Young Republicans of Roanoke, has received a job offer with Kay Coles James.  Kay Coles James is the incoming Secretary of the Commonwealth.  Well done Tori – that’s the style!

Melanie Salins Does Right By Our Children and Parents!
Earlier this week, the Warren County School Board unanimously voted down a proposal  called “Second Step”.  No one really knows what Second Step is, as the School System would not let anyone know what Second Step really is.  They do call it “socio emotional” learning (we can only guess what that means).
Front Royal Town Council Member Amber Morris gave a rousing speech as to why Second Step must be stopped.  And Board Member Antoinette Marchette-Funk also voted with children and parents.  But it was the speech given by Melanie Salins which really took the day.

Melanie is a clear and present danger to the leftists who want to control our schools.  Melanie had to endure many hardships in the 2021 election cycle, including lawsuits, and physical threats to her and her family.  Melanie stands firm on Faith, Family and Freedom.  Melanie, Antoinette, and Councilor Amber Morris are a clear and present danger to the radical leftists and those who would enable them.

Welcoming Dr. James Berdiga to the 6th Congressional District Committee
Last week, Dr. James Berdiga of Warren County, was named the Young Republicans Representative to the 6th Congressional District Committee.  The good Doctor is also the Chair of the Warren County YR’s, and has a stellar reputation of being a staunch conservative.

School Board Member Dennis Barlow Elected Vice Chair
At their organizational meeting earlier this year, incoming 1st District School Board Member Dennis Barlow was elected Vice Chair of the School Board – with incumbent Member Marty Helsley (who was the lone vote against the name change of Stonewall Jackson HS) becoming the new Chair.

If there is a local Republican elected official, Party Chair, or GOP activist who you think deserves a special shoutout, please email me and let me know who they are and why.  Going to do this from time to time

Thank you for allowing me to serve you as your Chair.  Together we will take back Virginia

I remain
