We hope the first weeks of 2022 have been treating you well, and at Elmore PR, we are full steam ahead into the new year!  As we enter February and celebrate the power of relationships, we’re diving into how accountability plays a key role in those relationships. We hope this reflection resonates in how you approach the important relationships in your life.
Accountability as a Business Practice

Healthy relationships are built on a foundation of trust and accountability. Friendships and intimate relationships thrive when each person feels heard and held. Connections flourish when expectations are established and met over and over again.

We believe the same is true in our professional relationships with our clients and colleagues. We want these relationships to be long-term and prosperous, made possible by sincere connection and confidence in us. When you are seeking a consultant, and especially in the case of a communications adviser who must understand your business and how you want your business to show up in the world, you need them to be an extension of your team. To achieve this-

Elmore's Read on Accountability
We checked in with our team and asked them to share how they would respond to the question "What does accountability mean to you in the agency/client relationship" or "What is an example of how you are accountable at work."  Here are a few of our thoughts:
  • I am grateful for the Elmore schedule and system of client and internal meetings. The way the meetings are structured and how they follow each other allows us to check in with our team on a regular basis and make sure client action items are being taken care of – I find it very helpful in keeping us all on track for success.

  • I always aim to do what I say I will do. We have many conversations both internally and externally with clients. It can be easy to forget the small commitments especially when you aren’t being reminded. However, I find that remembering to do the little things can make a big impact.

  • Clear communication is essential, whether sharing an update on a client project, reporting results, or asking for clarification - being clear helps me stay on track and accountable.

  • I am accountable with others on my team by doing my own work well. I am sure to own and fulfill my parts of a project so that others will be poised for success.
Extra! Extra!
We wrapped up the end of last year with some fun and meaningful placements on behalf of our clients - take a look!
In December, Houston Grand Opera presented its world premiere of The Snowy Day. The new opera, based on the beloved children’s book by Ezra Jack Keats, comes from the creative duo of composer Joel Thompson and librettist Andrea Davis Pinkney. To build momentum for this ground-breaking opera, Elmore PR worked closely with Houston Grand Opera and their national PR team, Sacks & Co. to deliver a robust and strategic communications plan. As a result, The Snowy Day garnered attention across national, regional, and local publications including but not limited to: The New York Times, Texas Monthly, Houston Chronicle, Houston Press, Houstonia, KPRC-TV, and CultureMap Houston.  Check out what Texas Monthly had to say about the opera!

As part of their social purpose programming, our client, Perkins&Will, worked with local nonprofit GiGi's Playhouse of Sugar Land to convert the organization's existing office space into a reimagined, multi-purpose venue to enhance their efforts of serving children and adults with Down syndrome. As the opening of the new space approached, Perkins&Will looked to share the unique design details of the project, while also recognizing the important mission of GiGi's Playhouse. To that end, Elmore PR crafted a press release highlighting project details, as the as well as a media alert to invite local reporters to the December 3 ribbon cutting celebration. In addition to an article in Community Impact, a reporter from Houston Chronicle's Sugar Land Sun was on hand at the event, resulting in this story - which appeared online and in print.
Throughout the year, Elmore PR collaborates with our client Silver Eagle Beverages to identify strategic opportunities for influencer relations in San Antonio.
In December, the team determined that a holiday-themed media drop to select Instagram accounts would be a great way to generate buzz around Silver Eagle Beverages and its beverage partners – Karbach Brewing, Breckenridge Brewery, and Kona Brewing.
The themed basket was delivered to 10 influencers, resulting in 108,434 total possible consumer impressions for Silver Eagle Beverages.

In November 2021, Elmore PR was proud to support Brookfield Properties as they announced new plans to renovate and rebrand The Shops at Houston Center. Fulsome upgrades to the existing retail center – which will be renamed The Highlight – will create a fresh, modern destination in the heart of downtown Houston, and provide a thoughtful amenity mix for tenants and visitors alike. Through targeted outreach, Elmore PR secured placements in the Houston Chronicle, Houston Business Journal, and Realty News Report among other publications. Read more about the project here.
Meet the Team
Abby Linney is one of our Communications Strategist extraordinaires.  She has been with Elmore PR since 2018 and is helping us kick off the year as our first "Meet the Team" feature - with a little help from her dog (pictured below), Magnolia.

What originally got you interested in your current field of work?
While I always thought PR seemed fun based on The Hills, it was not until my senior year at Ole Miss that I seriously considered going into the industry or truly understood what real PR was. Spoiler alert: it’s not what you see on The Hills. As part of my major, I took a few PR electives with who turned out to be my favorite professor. Her course curriculum was incredibly enlightening and really prepared us for what to expect in this industry. She invested in her students and it’s because of her encouragement that I decided to go into PR.

Where is the next place on your travel bucket list and why?
I will be checking Paris, France off my travel bucket list this April! I have spent years dreaming of wandering through the gardens, indulging in daily croissants, and seeing the Eiffel Tower glittering at night.

What’s your favorite way to spend a day off or describe your perfect day.
My perfect day would start by waking up without an alarm to drink coffee on the couch while watching an episode or two of my latest TV show. I’d then grab brunch at Tiny’s No. 5 before spending the afternoon by the pool reading a book. Then, I’d meet up for dinner with friends somewhere with plenty of carbs and dessert.

This or That - Coffee or tea?
Coffee! As much as I have tried to become a tea drinker, I have to agree with Ted Lasso that “tea is horrible. Absolute garbage water.”
