Dear Faith Family,
At the beginning of every new year, there is always lots of talk about new year’s resolutions. And, this is good! After a month of holiday eating and parties and interrupted schedules, it is good to want to press the reset button and start over.
There are two quotes that have been lodged in my mind this week... The first one is from John Maxwell. He says, "I can predict the long-term outcome of your success if you show me your daily habits.” The second one is from a Pastor by the name of Craig Groeschel. He writes, “Successful people do consistently what other people do occasionally.” I love both of these thoughts!
Now, regardless of how we feel about new year’s resolutions, our daily habits and small consistent decisions do have an incredible impact on the person we are becoming. Sometimes we get frustrated because we don’t see the results. We want our progress to be fast and noticeable, but success is often cumulative over time.
Could I encourage you to create a daily routine that includes time in God’s Word and intentional prayer? I know it sounds simple and perhaps you’ve tried before and struggled to follow through. But, this rhythm of life can truly transform our relationship with God and our interaction with the world!
As a way of encouraging this in 2022, we have developed a monthly Bible Reading plan and a monthly prayer focus. It is called Together for the Gospel. We have copies available in the foyer or you can download a copy here. It is never too late to jump in!
We are also looking for ways to serve together in 2022. Could I just highlight a critical need at First Hewitt? We need some male leadership in our Children’s Ministry. There is an immediate need for male teachers, helpers, and volunteers in classrooms. If you’d be willing to serve in any of these areas, please reach out to Michelle Schlappe (michelle@firsthewitt.org).
Looking forward to continuing our new sermon series on Philippians on Sunday! Can’t wait to worship with you!
You are loved!
Pastor Chris
