In 1912, the City of Hattiesburg was gifted an illuminated sign that sat atop the Ross Building in Downtown Hattiesburg for many years. There, it served as a reminder to all who traveled to and through our city that we were the Hub City.
One hundred and nine years later, we honor the story of the sign and those who came before us while casting a bold vision for our future.
It has been too long since we’ve been able to usher in a new year together, and I hope you’ll choose to celebrate this New Year’s Eve in Hattiesburg. Our event, Midnight on Front Street, is an incredible night of great food, live music and the dropping of our iconic Hub Sign, which is followed by a dual fireworks show.
Tied richly to our city’s history, I am excited to share this tradition with so many of you right here in Hattiesburg and from across the region. On December 31, we will leave 2021 behind and celebrate all the exciting things that 2022 might bring.
From street vendors and open businesses to great music and kid-friendly activities, there will be something for everyone (family-friendly crowds and those 21+). For all of the details you need to have to enjoy the night, scroll through to the end of this newsletter.
As we look forward to what 2022 will bring, I invite you to meet me at Midnight on Front Street this New Year’s Eve.
All the best,
