Heyla!

Happy New Year! I hope the switch to 2022 found everyone healthy, happy, and safe.

Jill also says happy new year. She got a new fleecy and a new sweater and she loves both...mostly because she loves to be warm.

GCLS End of Year Trivia

I had a lot of fun participating in this event...even if I didn't get a full hour of silence from my family. Alcohol + noisy family + trivia = hilarity. Watch the video if you really want to know what went down. I think it's about 45 minutes in.

Topic #2
Author Spotlight Introduction
A new year and month means a new Author Astronaut of the Month. This author is actually a personal friend, one of my wife's bff's from childhood, and one of the new authors at Flashpoint. She also has an adorable service dog who is NOT a fan of Jill. LOL
Benna Bos is an author, non-profit manager, and adjunct professor of Anthropology. Her greatest love is romance. Mixing Cozy Mystery with engaging love stories, Benna plays on her love of place and her obsession with true crime podcasts. San Francisco is the setting she is most obsessed with, and it happens to be her current home. Benna loves to read, write, play with her dog, and go on road trips.

Taste Tests

For the new subscribers: My wife and I taste test food and/or alcohol to kill time. (Despite the look on her face, the wife is consenting, I swear!) Click below for our full YouTube playlist.

Writing Updates:

  • The Last Scion of El is nearly finished. I've got perhaps 2 chapters left after my current one. I had to take a little hiatus for the past few weeks because of the holidays, and to see my mom who was finally awake, though still on a ventilator. I'm a little way in to chapter 24, with this and probably 2 chapters to go. Right now the story has reached 125,000 words with perhaps another 10k to go. Yes, this will be converted to fit into the Children of the Stars world.
  • I'm not sure if I'll finish The Rebels of Psiere before or after I convert The Last Scion of El to a COTS superhero fic. I'll see what my publisher says. She's also promised Rebels, along with the first 2 in the series to one of the winners in the GCLS trivia event.
  •  It Was the End of Days on AO3 is still tabled.

Use the links and logos in my signature line to find me elsewhere. OTW Member logo will take you to my AO3 fanfic page, where you can read free fiction to your heart's content. Flashpoint logo takes you to my publisher author page, etc.

As always, thank you for your continued support, because a voice is nothing without people to hear. Read, rate, and review. I'm always glad to answer emails and love to see feedback. Drop me a line for all questions, comments, and criticisms. I genuinely want to get better and I'm open to all. Thank you, friends!

Investigating Helen (Murder By the Bay Book 1) by Benna Bos

Dr. Helen Nims is hauled into the police station when her new girlfriend is found murdered. Terrified and confused, she finds comfort from a stranger. But when that stranger turns out to be a crime reporter, Helen has to decide if she can be trusted or if confiding in the stunning podcaster will pull Helen deeper into suspicion.

Agnes Coates loves reporting on true crime. But it hits a little close to home when her first crush from high school is found dead in a bathtub. A gorgeous surgeon is tangled up in the police dragnet as they search for the killer, and Agnes must navigate her own feelings as she digs into the mystery and seeks out the truth.

With so much to lose, Agnes and Helen will walk the line between kisses and crime.
