BTM News December 2021

O Come Let Us Adore Him!

Isaiah 9:6 “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,

    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

This is truly a year to proclaim the Glory of our Savior, and all he has provided through each of you on behalf of our families and partner ministries in Ethiopia!

Life is hard in Korah, but God is Good!  The unwavering service and love of our BHDO staff reflects our Savior’s heart. Here are just a few things we celebrated this year.

  • A new center was provided shortly after the government bulldozed the previous center in order to keep the families and employees safe in the event of a landslide.

  • A few families became self-sustaining and graduated from the sponsorship program.

  • Korah 3 school program was established at the center.

  • Three babies received surgeries as well as many families received medical treatments.

  • Families were relocated and received new items for their homes after a devastating fire.

  • A women’s Bible study was offered by BTM’s missionary, Emma. She continues to invest her time discipling one on one with these ladies.

At times, words fail when we see our sovereign God answer the prayers of his humble servants; but scriptures encourage us to write it down and share with future generations. We have seen God sustain and provide, as only He can, for the BHDO center and the families they serve.

Matthew 11:28-30, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

BHDO stands as a beacon of hope in the Korah Community!  We are grateful to all of our supporters who faithfully pray and sponsor families.

Mark 16:15, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.”

Wow! How honored, humbled, and blessed we are that Be There Ministries has the opportunity to GO and help others in our sphere of influence!

  • January, 2021 - Jen led two medical clinics with the help of a amazing team consisting of Nora, Lindsay, Danielle, and Sharnel. We encouraged staff with an event at the ministry home, while enjoying Christmas with family and friends. .

  • February, 2021 - Mel and Kim helped establish Emma Geswein as our BTM missionary on the grounds.

  • March, 2021 - The Galley Family traveled to Ethiopia for a family mission trip.

  • May, 2021 - We had the privilege of visiting our sponsored families in both programs, and attended the wedding of Gelila, our fair trade partner.

  • August, 2021 - Another team consisting of Mel, Kevin, Kim, Lindsey, Ella, and Emily traveled to encourage our staff and the new orphan care program.

  • October, 2021 - A family trip to attend and celebrate Dejene & Genet Snow’s wedding.

As 2021 comes to an end, the BTM staff and board are praising the Lord for his faithful provisions in travel, and for providing the right people at the right time to do his work!

John 14:18, “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.”

The desire of our hearts for many years has been orphan care. On many trips BTM would gather street orphans to meet their physical needs of food, showers and clothing  while taking the opportunity to introduce them to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

God gave us the desires of our hearts with the former Tsion orphanage boys and our street orphans.

In April of  2021, we took a leap of faith and answered the call of a friend to interview and encourage a failing orphanage. In this season, orphans have been impacted heavily due to lack of funding.  Our hearts broke over their stories and we could not say no!

On April 30, 2021, the boys were fully sponsored by nine supporters who faithfully prayed and financially met the needs of these sweet boys month after month.  When a few supporters were unable to continue their support, God quickly provided new supporters.  Orphan care can be heartbreaking  but also so rewarding as we witness their hope restored.

Rescued. Restored. Redeemed.

This has been our heart’s cry for the street orphans who entered our Hand in Hand sponsorship program in July.  First, we began with feeding the boys, encouraging them with stories and teaching them through educational games. Next, we provided temporary housing with a house helper.  Today, we have a new home with permanent staff to meet their needs.  Danny and Biruk entered school while Elais, Besufikad and Amin are working diligently at home to prepare for school.

With humble hearts we give all the glory back to our God and Savior!  Thank you for your faithfulness on behalf of our beloved staff and families in Ethiopia.
