For 60 years the Northport Historical Society has had an eye towards the past and eye towards the future. We are entrusted with the care of our landmark museum building and with the preservation of over 10,000 historic documents, photos, and artifacts.
This year, we have added the historic Skidmore House at 199 Main Street to our stewardship.
As we come out of nearly two years of shutdown, we are stronger and ready for an exciting new time.
Our Annual Appeal to our supporters is critical to our operating budget and thus we ask that you be generous in your support to allow us to serve the community and charge forth with new energy.

We are grateful to the Northport Yacht Club's hospitality at The Northport Historical Society's annual benefit on December 18th.  It was a festive and fun event thanks to all the attendees, volunteers and sponsors.  The evening was filled with live and silent auctions, raffle baskets, good food, and skilled Irish step dancers from the Doherty Petri School of Irish Dance.

This beautiful night was in honor of Michael Dowling, President and CEO of Northwell Health, whose contributions to the Northport community are much appreciated.

We extend our gratitude to our 2021 Annual Benefit Sponsors.

Thank you!

We couldn't have accomplished this memorable event without you!
For our next NHS Book Club Meeting
we will be reading:

The Lost Boys of Montauk: The True Story of the Wind Blown, Four Men Who Vanished at Sea, and the Survivors They Left Behind
by author Amanda M. Fairbanks

"In March of 1984, the commercial fishing boat Wind Blown left Montauk Harbor on what should have been a routine offshore voyage..."

Barnes and Noble describes the book as:
An immersive account of a tragedy at sea whose repercussions haunt its survivors to this day, lauded by New York Times bestselling author Ron Suskind as "an honest and touching book, and a hell of a story."
