ARTISANS ALONG THE AVENUE
The Norfolk Arts Center is pleased to announce that we are reinvisioning our biggest fundraising event of the year while still incorporating the well awaited soup from local restaurants, a wide variety of regional artists, and our exclusive silent auction products.

We are excited to announce our first “Artisans Along the Avenue” happening January 29, 2022.

“Artisans Along the Avenue” is bringing our beloved event to a crawl along Norfolk Avenue’s Downtown drag. The Norfolk Arts Center would like to invite you to be a part of its soup and art crawl taking place in the heart of Norfolk. Soups will be made and served in house at a variety of restaurants’ locations. Stationed at each restaurant will be one of our many talented regional artists and their booths.

“Artisans Along the Avenue” attendees are invited to sample soups created by Northeast Nebraska’s finest restaurants and chefs while seeing local artists demonstrate their talent as you shop the booths and enjoy the variety of venues and the overall ambiance of the downtown stretch.

Enjoy these participating restaurants, Black Cow Fat Pig, The 411, The Pier, District Table and Tap, Taylormade Catering, and White Mulberry Bakery along with fantastic regional artist who will be sharing their craft in the restaurants. At the Norfolk Arts Center enjoy hot chocolate and a demonstration from the Wayne State Art Club. The silent auction items will be on display at the Art Center and bidding will be open virtually from Saturday, January 29th through January 30th at midnight. HYBRID RECEPTION
Two new exhibitions were hung in the gallery and atrium this past month and the artists were invited to attend a reception to welcome them into the Norfolk Arts Center. This also allowed patrons to interact and find out the background of the artists as well as the story behind the exhibitions.

We welcomed Anastacia Drake and Sally Jurgensmier to the Arts Center. Sally joined us in person and Anastacia joined us through a Zoom call projected on the wall in the Gallery. This was a new experience and gave us insight into working with the technology and will allow us to offer this in the future as well.

Anastacia detailed how her work with layered acrylic took a leap when she worked with a young lady who was losing her eyesight and found a way to share with others how she interacts with the world by touch. Sally shared how she came to work with metal while she was in college and a professor telling her she needed to finally choose a discipline. This led her to take up sculpture and eventually led to metal work.

Exhibitions on display through February 24, 2022
