Opening Hymn "O Worship the King" UMH #73 (vs 1,2,5)
Opening Prayer Bob Price
Merciful God, by the birth of your Holy child Jesus, you gave us a great light dawn on our darkness. Grant that in his light we may see light. Bestow upon us that most excellent Christmas gift of love to all people, so that the likeness of your Son may be formed in us, and that we may have the ever brightening hope of everlasting life. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
*Hymn of Response “Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty” UMH #64 (vs 1 & 4)
Prayer of Confession Bob Price
Friends, as we gather our thoughts into quietness, we confess our sins to the One who knows best. We know ourselves chosen, adopted as children of God. We dare to believe that you and I are part of a plan conceived before the foundation of the Universe. But are we living as God’s children? Are we honoring our inheritance? We know ourselves called, but we are so easily distracted. We know ourselves loved, but we balk at the cost. Come, friends, let us confess our sins to the Lord.
Confession in Silence
Words of Assurance and Forgiveness Pastor Kim
Pastor: In Christ we are made new through his blood; all your sins and mine crumble away. In Christ you are forgiven.
All: In Christ you are forgiven.
Children’s Message Franklyn MacLean
The Lord’s Prayer Pastor Kim
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

- *Offertory Prayer Bob Price
God of this day and all days! We can only imagine the darkness of the world into which you sent your Son – a world that believed that salvation rested on our ability to follow rules. Jesus came to bring light into that darkness, and into our darkness. As we bring these gifts as a sign of our commitment to follow you, transform them into light for the hungry, for the hopeless, for the forgotten and the oppressed. We will share his light in us! In Christ, we pray. Amen.
*Gospel Lesson Isaiah 43:16-20 Bob Price

Eternal God, we give you thanks for this holy mystery in which you have given yourself to us. Grant that we may go into the world in the strength of your Spirit, to give ourselves to others, in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
