Neighbourhood plans and the planning reforms  - There are growing signs that neighbourhood planning in cities will be a Government focus when the planning reforms move on to the next stage. Planning Minister Christopher Pincher has told a CPRE online event that "We don’t have enough of them....They tend to be in more rural places....So we need to find ways of getting them into more urban....places.....As we refine and prepare to publish our response to the consultation on our planning reform proposals last year, we want to make sure neighbourhood plans form a part of that response." You can read Tony Burton's recent blog for Listen to Locals on boosting the community voice in the planning reforms here.
London Plan monitoring gap - The GLA's draft annual monitoring framework for the London Plan proposes to monitor "Plan Making" solely in terms of "Local Plan and DPD progress (borough)". We've pointed out the London Plan was amended to recognise the three-tier development plan system in the capital following our representations and that progress with neighbourhood plans should also be included in the way the London Plan is monitored.
Green Infrastructure mapping tool - Natural England has launched a well received new online tool for mapping green infrastructure. It brings together 40 datasets and despite local anomalies could prove a useful addition to a neighbourhood plan evidence base. Examples include information on (lack of) access to local green space.
Neighbourhood Planning Support Grant deadline - January is the last month to apply for grant support under the Government's programme with funds needing to be spent by the end of March. Disappointingly there is still no certainty that the programme will be extended even for an additional year. We will be pressing for significant improvements to the support programme as part of the expected planning reforms.
MAP and LIST - Thanks for all the feedback and update on the details provided on the Neighbourhood Planning MAP and LIST. Please check your own area and let us know if anything has changed, including contact details, social media, website and your progress with a plan.
